In regards to Zantetsuken

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I need to contact one of the game's developers, or for one of them to at least read this.

A friend and I both play on Midgardsormr. His character's name is Leon Baron. He REALLY wants a Zantetsuken as a sword glamour. We tried the Odin FATE about 30 minutes ago as of this writing. Keyword being tried. We didn't have anywhere near enough people. He got one of the Odin's Mantles you need to buy the sword, but you need five.

The thing is... He works 40 hours a week, so the odds that he would be online when that one particular FATE appears are very low, and it would take him quite a long while to get enough Mantles to trade for the sword. On the other hand, I myself have the sword. It's sitting in my armory chest right now, but I only got it because I thought it looked cool. I'm probably not even going to level PLD up that high, anyway.

In other words, is there any way, ANY way possible, for a dev to help trade the sword to my friend?

uhhhhhh yea that ain't happenin. your friend will just have to keep grinding out the Odin fate until he has enough currency to purchase it. good news though - the game isn't going away any time soon! =p so your friend will have plenty of time to find Odin once again later on.

I can’t speak for Midgardsormr, but Cactuar’s larger Hunt LSs also call out World FATE bosses. Maybe you and your friend can join a large Hunt LS that calls out World Bosses, and manage to scrape together enough people to clear it that way.

Adding to what Hyomin said, If you need a hunt lS you can pm me in game and i can send you an invite. I don't hunt much anymore but there are others there that have access to multiple linkshells to better your chances of getting enough ppl. It would also be a good idea to have someone give a shout in the novice network about the fate being up. There will be more ppl that need to complete it or that are willing to help as well.

In my experience, as long as the location is found early enough and it isnt at a super-awkward time of day it isnt too hard to complete an Odin-level fate. It seems to spawn every couple days, and advertising its existence and location is the key to getting a crowd(the advice above about LSs and NN call outs is spot-on). The special weather pattern(Tension) appears in all 4 shroud zones to advertise that the fate is up somewhere, and it gives 30 mins to clear. Immediately after a failed spawn isnt the easiest moment to have perspective, but your friend will have many more chances to win(and a single gold completion should net him enough mantles for a sword). Plus, revenge is a great excuse to go after Odin again next time he appears in the Shroud.

Super-late edit: The mantle is also used to make a piece of furniture. This piece can be desynthesized using blacksmith skill. I dont know if anyone has tested(or scraped the data) what you can get back, but it might be possible to get a mantle(or potentially more then one) back. If anyone knows, please elaborate.

you would only get the shards and either darksteel nugget or electrum ingot back from desynth, or possibly fieldcraft demimateria. You wouldn't get back untradeable items like the mantle.

might need to vacation to another server that has more active hunters. I can only speak for Ultros but any time it up and been called it normally killed.

As someone who works 40 hours a week...it is possible to hit that fate during the limited time you can be on. When it is up however, you HAVE to shout in either cities or hunt linkshells. If you do, people will come.

I thought that might be the case, but wasnt sure. Ok, forget that i mentioned desyn. The fate is rare, not super rare, and it happens in zones that are usually at least a little populated. Find it, promote it, beat it, get sword, look good.
