I've also suddenly started getting this error today after having never received it in the past.

I've had crashes before but they were sudden, unlike this error that causes a massive FPS drop prior to it occurring.

EDIT: It seems to have gone away after installing the newest drivers for my graphics card. I've also noticed my game is less prone to getting DX11 errors in general if I open it before anything else when I first power on my PC.

Now my launcher gives me error 1000003d when I try to launch the game in directx 9. It was working perfectly until yesterday. Problem has started after upgrade W10 to April 2018 update. Game still works in DX11 mode..but it gives me a bit of fps drop down since I'm playing on my notebook.

    Hi,

    Replying to your inquiires:

    - Platform : PC - Dell with hybrid GPU(Intel +Nvidia 920m).

    - Type of connection (wired or wireless): Wired

    - Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)> ESET Internet Security 11.1.54

    - Everything you have tried to resolve the issue: What I know for sure is that the problem started after installing Windows 10 April update. But I've managed to fix it by deleting FFXIV.cfg then reconfiguring my screen settings. Everything is fine now!! Thanks.

Crystallin, Here is a solution I had. On Discord, there is an option to "Use GPU". Turn that off. Back when I started using discord and I had that on. It would DX crash a lot, since discord was sharing the same GPU power as XIV. Causing conflicts. Since many times, while XIV might be on DX11... Discord GPU maybe using a lesser DX load, which in turn causes the overall DX to run less.

    See if that helps.

Despite what I posted earlier, the fatal directx errors returned in force not much later.

I tried underclocking my GPU, but it was still crashing even at -100 hz below the standard values. A clean install of the graphics drivers didn't work, either.

What did seem to fix it, though, was adjusting the TDR delay to be eight seconds instead of two seconds. This is basically telling Windows to not give up on your GPU so quickly and assume it crashed due to a lull in activity, which causes it forcefully reset it and crash XIV. It normally does this to prevent your PC from crashing entirely, but as far as I can tell, the game is just getting a FPS hiccup that it mistakes as the GPU shutting off (Every time the crash happened, the GPU load was near 100%). I'd suggest looking up a guide, as it requires messing with your registry which can be dangerous if not done properly.

However, this is ultimately just a band-aid fix as there's still something wrong with the XIV client for this to be happening in the first place.

EDIT: After a nearly 12 hour period of no crashes, the game ended up crashing in the same way less then 20 minutes after I logged in the next day, so the "fix" didn't do anything...

Windows 10 release 1803 have (serious?) issues with some NVIDIA graphic drivers. Still not clear if problems are within Windows itself or the NVIDIA drivers.

I'd suggest to revert back to Windows 1709 or wait for a fix. The game haven't nothing broken.

This issue isn't NVidia specific. It's been happening for the last few months on my Vega 64, but not my son's FuryX or my daughter's R9 390. It is specific to only FF14 and it is specific to only the DX11 mode. My kids still enjoy the game, but I've cancelled my sub after watching a couple months of this error getting reported and the threads just getting closed with no resolution. It isn't going to be fixed. You either just deal with it or unsub.

I see your issue has been resolved. I will be moving this thread to "closed concerns" If anyone is still experiencing this issue please create a new thread.
