Fatal Directx Error (11000002)

Hi there, been having this issue in FF14 and *only* FF14. My graphics drivers are up to date as of 4/25/2018. this is the latest nvidia driver. I am running no overlays with the game. Please assist.

There's no pattern or reason for it happening that I can see. Sometimes I can play for an hour or more with no issue. Other times, like yesterday, I'll get the error 5 times in a row in the span of 10 minutes.

It first occurred a couple months ago. But only once, so I didn't think anything of it. The only thing I can think of that changed recently was the April Windows Update. But considering it happened prior to the update I can't see that as being the problem. There is also the fact that FF14 is the only game/program that this happens with would show that it's the game that's the issue. Switching to DX9 mode does nothing to solve the issue either.

And just now I lost a bunch of high quality mats because the damn error happened while I was sitting still crafting! This is ridiculous that this is the ONLY game that is doing this to me.

Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

okay, maybe I wasn't clear. I have twitch and Discord's overlays disabled. My bit torrent client does not conflict with games in any way whatsoever. I've already tried the clean boot and it did not stop the fatal error.

And no, nothing I installed could have been the cause of the crash in this game. It happened the first time when I was in Kugane. It was the middle of hte night so there weren't a lot of people in Kugane at all. I thought maybe Kugane was the problem as it happened again recently a few times. But it also happened in Eureka and in the open world. So no, i can't pinpoint anything that could be causing this error. It seems random, but there must be something happening.
