Define a good player

I had to have this pointed out to me recently, but my definition of myself as a good player is seemingly flawed,...
That’s just how I’ve come to define myself as a player. If that makes any sense or gives any insight to how I think.

you said so yourself there's no wrong or right in this discussion, that's just how forums are supposed to work, right? people exchanging ideas not for reaching an absolute conclusion but perhaps to learn from one another.
I think it's good that you're trying to improve your perspective by picking up points from others, but my impression is, as an FFXIV player whose aiming to improve your individual performance to attain a certain ranking in the community, simply knowing how to be "good" isn't and will never be enough for you. you need to know how to be the best. after reading the replies it seems many think a good player is simply someone who's decently skilled, and has a pleasant attitude--someone who cares about teamwork. but a highly skilled player (the best, the 1%) is more than that.
my point is, if you want to confirm if you're a good player based on your fellow players' definitions, I think you're definitely one, as you've shared how you're a teamplayer who sometimes make mistakes, but not because you're trolling. now if you're a highly skilled player, that is a different topic for another thread I think
