not automatically targetting mobs that are not attacking you and making you start fighting them immendiately prevents botting in large groups of mobs. Imaging if you could do this, I would be able to go to work and come home to 2k boar hides!
I personally would rather hit a button or two extra than have to compete with RMT for mobs in good exp camps
there are already bots that bypass the logic in your statement which are used today.
no game should be designed around an inevitability. having so many convoluted menus and such were the original plan which are now being done away with.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
Hello,
I can not say for 'melee' types, but as an archer (close enough maybe?) I only need to do the following:
- Left click with mouse on target
- Hit '1' (to use normal arrow) or '#' (to use a weapon skill)
I stay in fight mode all the time (sometimes for hours) so is rarely an issue for me to have to worry about switching. Also I believe hitting '1' (to fire arrow) automatically puts me in fight mode if I was not.
Maybe it is different for melee, if so, sorry for not being able to be more help.
Target >> hit enter.
There's a post somewhere where Yoshi (I think) said that the current 2-click system for targetting was annoying and they were going to change that. When? Dunno.
If you wish to go from passive, to attacking a nearby mob in one macro first of all enable 'direct targetting' (/dtar on).
Then in a macro use this....
/tenemy
/bm
That should lock you onto the nearest enemy and draw your weapon ready for auto-attacking.
I hope this is what you are looking for![]()

i had high hopes for this but it still requires enter to start auto attacking :/ OMG ITS SOOOO ANOYING!!!! so many button presses for the most simple fundamental gaming aspect. If you wish to go from passive, to attacking a nearby mob in one macro first of all enable 'direct targetting' (/dtar on).

heres a simpler question
is there a macro line that makes the red sword icon go from yellow to red? just as i mentioned before, the lists ive found are badly outdated or incomplete.

Odd! This works perfectly for me. So much so, I may start using it myself. However I use a controller, but I cant see that being the issue.
I totally agree with you there pal, I do also find it very fustrating being a heavy macro user myself, the only time I will possibly make a transition to the action bar is when we get 3 lines on the screen and no need to scroll back and forth as I'm a keyboard/mouse user, I only use the controller for travelling long distances.
Fyi, I mainly play DoM so I haven't had much experience with DoW, multiple targeting and switching between enemys, but I do find that having to hit enter sometimes to start auto-attack is frustrating and just not needed.

Ok well you have to consider that auto-attacking did not exist when this game was released. So this is a feature that has kind of been grafted on, and will need to be adjusted to work correctly. So just chill, I'm sure this will be fixed.
