Patches take too long to come out. Please Hire more staff

From each patch they seem to take extra time to finish them or too long and work on bugs and such after releases. Such as 1.19a,1.19b etc.

They take about 10 days extra to finish a patch. So for them to finish everything up till Ver2.0 it will take them 6 months extra.

Version2 & Patch 1.23 says its going to be completed by Oct.2012.

So ver2.0 might not get done on time including the patches until Nov.2012~April.2013.

For them to make patches on time they would have to increase the development staff by 20%. This would make faster released content and better testing before releasing to early to meet patch due dates.

Edit: As for people that say more is bad your kinda right and wrong.

More people on same project might cause problems but if you give someone a job and spread them out up until Version2 PS3 release it shouldn't be a problem.

Im just pointing out what they are already doing. I can wait for updates trust me I played FFXI for 9 years.

I only want FFXIV to be the best it can be. Its why I want them to consider hiring more programing staff and testers.
If they meet patches on time they can also address unplaned subjects such as enemies being too strong at lv1-10 and
start working on fixing extra problems which in every patch something new alwas shows up and isn't fixed until months down the road.

I'm fine with the rate at which patches come out, but am dissapointed with the actual content involved.

I understand that they are more focused on rebuilding the games structure than content (which I agree with), but if content rates were like this after 2.0, I would personally be very dissapointed.

This patch particularly is very lack-luster in content and in my opinion, the market ward "improvements" are laughable.

Another big problem is that most of the content they release isnt even WORTH doing (EG: Company Leves , Coffer Runs ect.)

Perhaps if the content they released wasn't so frivolous it would seem like there was more out there.

You're probabally gonna cop a huge backhand from the community for posting this thread Venat, just a heads up.

Dude, give them time. They're revamping the game by updating it in a crappy structure, so they have to be careful and take time for their decisions. Also, they keep developing the New Final Fantasy XIV.
If these are the circumstances, Sh*t takes time, and FFXIV is the Waiting game, since there's relatively little to do =)

The patch rate is more the acceptable by any dev studio's standards.

What the issue with many is how they are doing it. Unlike patches in most mmo which almost 100% focus on new content, 60-70% of the patches are massive reforms in the game foundational mechanics with little new content.

Like Patch 1.20 it is fairly massive, but very little content.

If they continue this pace, after 1.21 when the major reforms are done I am interested to see content at that point when the devs can focus on that instead of things that most mmo have nailed down at release.

more dev's does not mean faster patches. too many cooks spoil the broth. it don't matter how many cooks you have cooking said broth. the cooking time is set by how long it takes to cook, not by how many cooks you have in your kitchen

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

I don't think thats nessecarily true.

A development team is very collaberative (especially video games/film).
If you have more members working in synergy, theres no reason why there wouldn't be more content being produced.

For instance, patches are almost ALWAYS late/delayed because of last minute bug fixes.
If they had more testers in place to weed out the bugs, I can't see why things wouldn't be more on schedule.

If the patches had more content in them to keep players busy and not complaining about having nothing to do, a thread like this wouldn't exist.

Theres no need to be metaphorical whens theres not a lot of grey area.

Yes a year is definitely too long of a wait and I don't see that many overhaul plans in the future besides the map revamp. All things in the 2.0 announcement point to this battle system being pretty much it. They're just going to glue jobs on top.

There are plenty of story they could fix and rewrite in the current game and there are endless ways of copying that same content to the new map when it arrives.

It seems like the money is just going to SE's hands without having any impact on the speed of the updates except maybe they're not cancelling them because they can afford to do it.

Seriously though SE is investing in heaps and heaps of 3d technology (that is worse than their in-house tech) and a whole bunch of original IP's that none of the gaming press seems too excited about.

A new (non KH nor FF) 3d action rpg?! (yes SE because we all know how good you are with 3d action controls...NOT)

They should just focus their resources on the biggest titles because in the end of the day the success of XIII-2, Versus and XIV are the things that are going to keep people buying FF titles that SE intends to release every year from now on.

In comparison to all the recent mediocre announcements (Lord of Arcana 2?! Really SE really? Did you not notice everybody ignoring the 1st one?!) I can't believe I'm actually starting to look forward to the butt-ugly FF Theater Rhythm.

Just spending an hour on any gaming forum talking about SE you'd think it's really clear what everybody is dying for them to do but it seems like they have a self destructive mindset on trying to copy EA or Activision even though their target audience is clearly begging for them not to.

    220+ people. I think it's more like 20 people, 200 monkeys.
