    Help with Macros

Ok so finally got my THM to 50 and decided to level a melee class.
i chose to level MRD today but i was getting extremely sick of having to press 3 buttons just to start auto attacking so i decided to try and minimize that through macros.

    Currently i have to:
    *Select target/draw weapon
    *Draw weapon / Select target
*and hit one of my number keyed abilities in order to "confirm" thats the target i want so my character will start auto attacking.

I decided to make a macro to condense 2 of those button pushes into 1 button press which ended up being:
    /battlemode
    /ac "Heavy Swing" <t>

This however did do what i intended.
The "/ac "Heavy Swing" <t>" was not activating my action bar nor "confirming" my target as it does when i physically hit the number thus not activating my auto-attack. It would show up on my chat log as if the macro line was incorrect with the little sword icon above the mobs head still yellow instead of red.

Anyone know what im doing wrong?
Does anyone know of a macro to consolidate target, draw weapon, and enter into 1 button push?

In my opinion, when the mob starts attacking you, your character should automatically draw their weapon and your target indicator should automatically target and activate itself on the mob attacking you.
There should also be 1 button which targets your nearest enemy, and draws your weapon. This silly "confirm target" or "activate your action bar" nonsense needs to go.

You're really that annoyed about having to hit F > F10 > Enter? Takes, what? Half a second?

To be honest, in order for auto attack to begin, you need to be locked onto the target. I don't mean as in /lockon I mean as in select target>hit enter or click again. Not sure if this is feasible but then again, I just click twice and hit my /bm keybind & away I got so... If I find an answer, I'll reply back.

    Good Luck!

um yeah actually. it isnt the time it takes its the fact that its un necessary effort. having 1 key to do all of that is the norm for MMOs. are you against the concept or something?

Don't put your weapons away between every mob, fight unlocked so you can change target without losing engage. There, removed 2 button presses of the 3.

this doesnt work though. i dont use target lock on if thats what your referring to when you say unlocked.

i dont put my weapon away and when i have to change targets when the mob dies then im no longer in an engaged state which means i have to press enter again. on top of that, your only talking about if your in the middle of battling several mobs at once in a party after theyve already pressed all three of those buttons which im talking about approaching a new mob.
how is this acceptable to you people?

Pretty sure it works when you cycle targets with Tab, you should stay engaged. Not entirely sure as I'm so accustomed to the UI that I don't really think about it.

Only have to do it when approaching a new bunch of mobs, which means not all the time. Takes half a second to do and I do it instinctively. It just comes naturally after a while so can't say it bothers me.

There are some instances when it's useful to select target, without being engaged so that you don't auto-attack. For example, running to combo position of a (new) mob without turning it to you before combo, or attacking a slept mob from good position.

I play with keyboard-only, if that makes any difference.

Sorry that I can't help with macros. I don't use any myself. There is, however, quite an extensive list of text commands on the lodestone main page category for it.

ive been playing since beta and it still bothers me to no end. its counter intuitive to divide something that is normally automatic or 1 button press in every other PC RPG into 3 button presses.

when you move your camera angle it dissengages your action bar requiring you to press enter again.
when the mob dies, cycling through mobs using tab does not keep you in auto attack mode.
as far as positioning yourself before you auto attack, well ive never once had a problem positioning myself in any other game so i dont see how it pose a problem for anyone here if all three button presses were consolidated into 1.

ive looked over the macro lists from several sites and they are badly outdated or incomplete which is why ive turned to the forums.
it is not only when you approach new mob groups, its every time a mob dies my new target while weapon still drawn and hitting tab breaks my auto attack state and requires me to press enter once ive tabbed. this is annoying and to me unacceptable.

not automatically targetting mobs that are not attacking you and making you start fighting them immendiately prevents botting in large groups of mobs. Imaging if you could do this, I would be able to go to work and come home to 2k boar hides!

I personally would rather hit a button or two extra than have to compete with RMT for mobs in good exp camps
