For me, I just don’t like the gameplay of either MNK or MCH. I’m not that fond of melee jobs, so MNK doens’t appeal to me for that reason. MCH, I tried in HW, I didn’t like the rotation/gameplay, and when I leveled it to 70 in SB, I hated the gameplay even more. Gauss Barrell is clunky, and annoying to reapply after you overheat and cool down; it should honestly just be a trait. And I have high enough ping to where I can’t effectively do a strong Wildfire compared to someone with lower ping. Plus, the gameplay of press-every-button-that-I-can-in-the-span-of-10-seconds doesn’t appeal to me either.
You say that.... but BRD has some of the lowest personal DPS among the DPS jobs (though it’s rDPS contribution is very high). Especially if they don’t have a DRG in the party. So I’m not sure where you got the impression they were strong. MCH bypasses them in personal DPS. I also wouldn’t insinuate that there’s nothing to do at max level on BRD. I spend plenty of time being active on it. /shrug

Monk is my go-to melee if I'm not healing, and honestly it just feels outdated. It hasn't had any significant changes to it's rotation since ARR, and it keeps getting these rather gimmicky mechanics that a lot of people don't want to bother with.
Not to mention keeping their buffs up can be hell if you're not used to it. The amount of times you could easily lose GL in fights like Tsukuyomi, O7 and 8 savage. No one wants to deal with this when every other melee buffs are either static, or so easy to keep up it's not a big deal.
I think he means, BRD helps other jobs get pretty numbers and thats why people like it.You say that.... but BRD has some of the lowest personal DPS among the DPS jobs (though it’s rDPS contribution is very high). MCH is underplayed because brd is considered to be better for the raid and because SE dropped the ball on both of it's implementations. It was awful upon first release. It was only really good by the end of HW before it was bad again at the start of SB
MNK probably has a couple issues, the first is that it hasn't changed much since 2.0 so fatigue, 2nd DRG/NIN are meta for most of the games recent life, and the 3rd is that delete mnk meme at the end of HW/ early SB (before everybody got buffed and the baton was passed to SAM) existed

IMHO Monk got gutted in Stormblood. I don't know how others felt about 3.0 MNK, but I thought it was perfect. MNK finally had gotten a cool AoE attack, strong burst, it was faster than ever, basically it was a direct improvement over 2.0 MNK. In SB they took a lot of cool mechanics away, made it slower, easier, and RNG based. The new weapon skills are laughable and incredibly underwhelming IMO, it's just extremely lame right now. I'd call it MNK v2.5 instead of 4.0 if I could, it really doesn't feel like an evolution but a step back.
