My personal issue with this Phone Companion App is NOT the Kupo Nuts, the Coins, the Limited features for a sub fee that is nearly half of the in game sub or even that you have to pay the $5 sub to be able to pay the $2 sub for an additional retainer. I would prefer it if the retainer was part of the $5 but as a consumer it is ultimately up to me if I want to pay for this or not.

HOWEVER, my issue is just the 1 and a very simple one at that. The doubling of the Chocobo Saddlebag. For YEARS the play base has requested inventory increases, if you want to do everything the game offers you will need it. The base inventory was simply not enough if you were playing all the combat classes, gathering and crafting professions.

For YEARS SE gave us excuses to why they could not increase inventory, and some were pretty understandable due to the limitations of the PS3 and server side issues.

We finally get our wish and inventory is increased in Stormblood and they implement Chocobo Saddlebags which was a very nice bonus. With their statement in the patch notes and live letter they would be testing the waters and increase inventory size based on community feed back and server end load. Makes perfect sense and perfectly acceptable and reasonable.

Then we get this thing, the Mobile Phone Companion app. For an additional $5 a month you can DOUBLE the Chocobo Saddlebag from 70 slots to 140! slots. An IN GAME feature that is available in every B2P, P2P and even some F2P games is costing us additional real world money to be used

4 examples of this would be; World of Warcraft, Rift, Wildstar and Guild Wars. Each providing a base inventory which you are able to expand IN GAME with IN GAME currency buy purchasing or crafting larger bags.

The fact that we were told for so long that SE could not do it for reason X, Y and Z for them to only turn around and say well we COULD do it but it will cost you on top of what you are already paying us each month.

The point of a Subscription is so that changes like this are added to the game WITH OUT you paying more for them. Inventory space in a subscription game is NOT something you should have to pay an additional fee on top of your monthly fee to get.

They obviously have the ability to increase the Chocobo Saddlebag, they have the resources they have the capability but in my personal opinion to make the Companion App look more fuller and appetizing they are putting a feature into it that we should have as subscription players.

If you tell us for years "We can not do it because X" and then "We were able to finally do it and depending on the server and community we will increase it" to "We can actually do it but you need to pay for it" is just a slap in the face to the player base. Some who pay upwards of $27.99 for a subscription.

If you purchase everything that adds onto your subscription with the high end sub of $13.99 that brings the total of this games monthly sub to a staggering $34.99. That is more than some peoples internet bills, that as far as I know is the highest subscription to a game that I personally know of at a total of $419.88 a year. I personally do not see our investment being put back into the game especially for a company as large as SE who has their hand in everything these days from MMOs, Mobile Games, Console Games, Merchandise, Cafes and even Movie Licenses.

As far as I can tell and I have played a many of MMOs, Free, Buy to play, and Subscription in my life time. This game has the largest selection of Micro transactions of any Subscription model I have ever seen.

TLDR; In game inventory space should be not a micro transaction, it is part of the game it should be part of the subscription fee that we all pay for and it feels like SE is telling us the amount we currently pay them for these basic features is not enough and we owe them more money if we want them.

You're paying $5 to get 70 extra Saddlebag slots, when you could pay $2 with a retainer to get 175 more inventory slots. The paying version of the app alone is a rip-off.
