Fair point. I do have to think that if they’re looking for new classes to put into the game, finding second classes to use the ‘maiming’ and ‘scouting’ gear sets might be a good starting point.

I’ll do some tweaks to the concept a little. Where the Rune Fencer has to Elemental Runes that are connected to the Spell; so
Stone Skin: would be the Rune Fencer activating the Earth Rune, etc. Void Fire is his Fire Rune.
As far as the lore, I’ll adjust the gauge to be a Runic Overcharge Meter where the weapon skills contribute to the charge of its elements, based on which element the WS is.
Thanks for all the feedback y’all!

Very interesting concept. Rune Fencer would make a good magic tank, like it was in FFXI. Only change I would make is instead of Scythes, I'd have them use Great Swords like DRK, but different kinds like design, etc to match what it was in FFXI gear wise. RDM and Rune Fencer could share interesting interconnected lore and could possibly tie into the RDM storyline and (hopefully) we see a certain miqote making cameo appearances.
An intelligence based tank would severely upset gear distribution and balancing, I'd rather we keep the main stats for tanks and healers as is.
Also, aside from NIN that eventually branched out of MNK gear, all jobs that were released with expansions use already available gear sets. DRK shares gear with other tanks, AST with other healers, MCH with BRD, RDM with caster DPS and SAM with MNK.

In the lore I presented, they once were a "Judge," and in my vision, I see a Judge, if it ever were a Job, to be a wielding a Scythe, sort of like a Grim Reaper, ready to cast judgement.Very interesting concept. Thus why I chose a Scythe... even though, cool looking Curved GSes would be killer!
And yes! I would love to see them interconnect the RDM storyline in some way! In a way sort of like Geomancer is entwined with Astro; they'll share similarities, but still be different.

As someone who particularly enjoys dabbling in these fictitiously created concepts, I don't particularly like this concept:
- I don't think Scythe is the right weapon for this. I get the notion of the Judge (but that doesn't fit with Fencer, change one or the other IMO)
- I understand that you like RDM, but it seems way too thematically and mechanically similar. That's not a good thing
- I gave pretty critical feedback on your BLU, that appears you didn't take it into account. You're overloading the concept with effects. You did the same thing on BLU (and I've been guilty of doing it in the past too). Keep the focus on fewer, but higher impact buffs
- What exactly is "void holy energy". That seems ridiculous to me lol. Light and Dark elements are usually either solo or supplementary to the natural elements, I don't think I've ever seen successful instances where dark and light (antagonist forces) work together
- Some of the naming conventions are decent, but some of them are pretty wonky (but then again, FF14 isn't good at this either IMO)

this actually makes me wonder if the TC played XI since our dark knight plays like it was based off of rune fencer and given a dark knight skin.
Like how AST is basically chemist with an astrology skin

The Grim Reaper’s scythe isn’t a tool of judgement though - it’s for, well, reaping. (By my understanding, the Reaper isn’t intended to be a judge - he comes for everyone in the end.) It’s really a farmer’s tool - and indeed is already in the game in its mundane form as a botanist’s secondary tool. Plus the novelty Edda ones of course...

A Couple of quick answers to questions:
Why a Rune Fencer without using a sword? Hence, Fencer;
-Well, just for the name, sadly wielding a scythe isn't conventional with the use of Fencer, but I didn't want to bog down the sword category by giving him an épée or some sabre.
So I chose to give it a Scythe. If anything, it could always be called a Rune Knight.
I want to thank everyone for the all the replies / critiques / and recommendations, I enjoy writing these little "Fan Fictional" job ideas since I really enjoy FFXIV and look forward to what the future holds for jobs.
