A king is a king no matter how bad that king governs. We're talking about roles, not about how you feel about it. Kings can be given advise but it's ultimately up to them to set the pace.
A tank is not a King. And a King is only a King as long as people don't overthrow him. Which happens to bad Kings. And Kings usually have an army backing them up. A tank has 3 people in a dungeon, and dungeons are majority rules, not kingdoms.
Ahem, i've completed i think over half of the 4 man dungeons in this game without a tank. You're really not as needed as you think, not in 4 man parties that is, 8 and up sure. Did i say i think the healer is the leader in both situations? No. I said even when I'm a healer i usually end up as the leader. When I tank I've never had anyone tell me how to do my job other than asking me to pull more. As a healer i constantly have to explain mechanics to tanks and explain their own class because apparently at lvl 50-60 it's still possible to not have an understanding of basic tank mechanics.
If you think forcing 3 other people to follow YOUR playstyle because you're not willing to adapt to the OTHER 3 PEOPLE, then you are selfish and you deserve to be removed from that party.
The irony is you think you're so important that the entire party should play around YOU rather than you adapt to everyone else.
But also reknown as being overall the worst skill wise unfortunately. It's not all just daisies.
On the top-right of the forum there is "Settings" button. On the screen that will pop up there is "Edit Character" on the left. That's where you can change it. I believe the first slot from the left is the one that appears as your "main", on the side of the forum icon.
It's the games fault. The players will always go the easiest way possible and this game allows to take it easy in every content along the way up till Savage/Extreme. People can ignore mechanics and still have an easy time beating a boss.
In many other MMO's, a single trash mob can and WILL kill ANY class if the player doesn't pay attention. There are no "tells" (AoE indicators and cast bars). There are no resurrections in-battle (you dead, too bad, wait for the group to finish off the monsters, a wipe or respawn out of dungeon). Mechanics are not necessarily as immediately deadly (this games instant-kill fetish is horrid), but they don't need to be to keep wiping parties, just cause the damage output and the healing are balanced, along with mana reserves.
This game lets player suck and win. It'll just take more time. It should FORCE players to follow the mechanics till it's a muscle memory.

The tank has and never was the voice of God or reason in a party entirely. Tanks are not special players and I wish people would stop treating them as such. The tank has the ability to set the pace for pulls, but the party collectively should be the ones to set the overall pace for the dungeon. Without the healer, the tank is as good as dead unless you're in a dungeon where you have your best mitigation and self-healing moves. Without the DPS, your dungeon run will go five times more slower than average. We do not need to follow you because you have a superiority complex, and we can always find another tank to replace you. You're not a rarity. That was uncalled for. The tank sets the pace, healer's and dps's role is to follow, you're the followers, not the leader. The advise of pulling 2 things is fine, the rest is just literally bashing them on the head for not moving how you want them to move even though you signed up for a role which has 0 saying in how fast a dungeon run should go.
yeah, tanks set the pace and should lead the party. that means understanding what your party can handle, understand how big you have to pull, understand if you have to wait so the healer can regen some mana, understand to go into the sideway because there is a chest with gear someone might need in a leveling dungeon... with 2 newbies in the party sure take some time and enjoy the sights, but with 3 people wanting a fast clear for their daylie roulette you should speed up a bit^^That was uncalled for. The tank sets the pace, healer's and dps's role is to follow, you're the followers, not the leader. as a leader you have to lead in favor of the party. the party is not there to follow you blindly, they all have their own needs and interests and as a leader it's your job to fullfill them or at least find a compromise. of course you can and should have your own needs and interests too, but they are not more important than anyone else's.
Both game (WoW and FFXIV) communities are toxic. FFXI, while it did some minor elitists, the community was pretty chill and very very helpful. Still is really. WoW had a toxic community, and FFXIV is no saint either. The amount of toxic varies from each game, but imo, FFXIV has levels of toxicity that I've never seen before. Now I see why people like using the term "snowflake".
