What was wrong about the old system?

Considering at least 75% of every previous relics required to farm Tomestones, I'd say they just realized that such weapons already exists: the Tome Weapons.

And frankly, with all the roulettes, I doubt you have that many people that still heavily level with FATEs.

On top of that, they made Wondrous Tails the new "keep old content fresh" solution, so there's no need for the Relic to go that way anymore.

Eureka is the "selfish" Version.

Really funny considering Eureka is the content where people are the most helpful with each other.
