You mean as in turning pagos crystals into anemos and then into protean? Could also be idd, nevertheless if they go with either way anemos doesn't seem to fare well in the future
The old Relic was very tedious and overly boring so they needed to change it up some.
Not stating it will not be as tedious but thus far it has been much easier.
There are better systems in place pushing people into old content.
Even with a new DPS characters I was leveling recently, I've not had long waits for 2.0 or 3.0 content. No more that 20min queues tops. Fates can be soloed and honestly not many level with them anymore.
Also a lot of the community was tired of fates and old content. So SE made a change.
I enjoy Eureka. Whether it be grinding with a party or on the train. It's a unique experience for FFXIV, and I'll take it.
Well to be fair Eureka is fate grinding for the most part, lol

While i did not hate it overly so, having 3 Relic weapons + almost 3 sets of Armour i have not felt like going back
It was awful. It routinely forced you to play with gimped abilities, required immense repetition of content that had been stale for months, often required / benefited from Gathering / Crafting... it just sucked.
No, they didn't. I've absolutely no problem with this being level 70 content; it's not like it's remotely difficult to ding 70. What I do have an issue with is the utter lack of foresight involved in crafting Eureka's gameplay. The failure to properly balance content rewards and allow for level syncing are particularly egregious examples; the latter should have been caught in the design phase, before development even began (and forced a re-think of the content if it couldn't be effectively implemented).You were able to pick up the relic quest, do it at your own speed and it's not only you or players on your level who benefits from it. Doing the duties several times (especially when you are focusing on a tank or heal relic) makes the queue shorter for those duties. Also doing fates give others the opportunity to level faster. And yes, it still sucks and its still time consuming, but at least you can help others out when you do the quest.
Eureka is the "selfish" Version. You are instanced and you can start the quest only with 70 anyway. Bound by a quest, not helping anyone because they are lower than 70.. did SE really thought this through?
I want to say something that seems to be missing from atma/crystal hate, since ppl have been linking this relic step to that step.
The reason why that step was awful was not just that it forced you to do FATEs, but also the fact that your progression with it was locked behind a RNG of which you had no control, flash forward to now, I can't really link this NM farm to it since you have partly control over it, each NM drops a fixed amount of crystals, essentially each NM is progressing you towards that goal and as such the time is limited in this farm, I can't say the same thing for the old step
atma actually drove people insane look up japanse atma theory people cling to it even the square went and said um no thats not a thing II want to say something that seems to be missing from atma/crystal hate, since ppl have been linking this relic step to that step.

didn't touch under after the up the drop rate at it still took me a week of running fates
becoming my enemy would be unwise
Ye I know that one, everytime there's RNG involved ppl will always create some crazy patterns, like the desire factor in MH
I do like eureka but it takes away the challenge of getting a good weapon and now gear. People have 10+ relics? How is that special? Honestly eureka is something to do. There is no real value in it at all if you think about it. Make getting relics not grinder but harder.
i would say the relic is not grindy enough. i got mine after 4 days, and the most time spent was on leveling. didn't touched eureka after that for a second relic...
they took away the grind from the relic, it took me 2 - 4 weeks to complete one of the old relic steps, finishing it now in 2 - 4 days is a letdown.
if you want a challenge go kill ex primals, savage raid or ultimate. they all give you weapons. what point has the relic when it is just another challenge? we have enough weapon rewards for challenging content! give me back the grind instead!
