    Favorite Melee DPS?

Not sure if this would be the right place for a somewhat poll-y thread, but I just wanted to get a sense for other people's general consensus (if there is one)

Just in terms of overall playstyle/complexity, what would you say is your favorite melee damage dealer?

I've leveled primarily as casters, and I wanted to try playing one of the melee classes for a bit of a change of pace, and wanted to get some recommendations.

I messed around a tiny bit with Samurai once I got to level 50, and it was somewhat fun, but I found it a bit underwhelming (Granted, it may get a lot more fleshed out as I go up in levels).

    Aesthetically, SAM is my favorite.

Historically, I've always been a DRG man myself. I miss old BotD though, LotD is nice, don't get me wrong, but it felt rewarding to master BotD vs Geirskogul.

This may be just me taking it at face value, but it seems like Geirskogul/Nastrond is the payoff to managing BoTD well? Am I missing something?

Back in Heavensward, Geirskogul had a 10 second cooldown, but also spend 10 seconds of Blood of the Dragon. Skilled use of Blood allowed one to make 3 geirskoguls per minute, and optimization allowed one to get most of those geirskoguls under buffs.

Life of the Dragon is a fun payoff, don't get me wrong. But Dragoon had a unique mechanic in that it actually spent its timers back in the day.

Ah, okay, so it's a "Fun, but not what I'm used to" sort of thing? I got you.

That's because people complained it was too hard.

In 2 more expansions the only thing we will have to do is press 1,2,3.

I'm still lvling DRG actually, I have no idea how it was in HW but with SB they addressed button bload (which is actually fine for me) but they also made everything easier to play. For example the new war changes, I liked the old better.
The old was harder to get it right but at same time it was also rewarding if you actually did it right.

@Op, I think SAM might be the 'hardest' to play from all melee jobs. Have to maintain multiple buffs and debuffs and timing matters (you'll have a big DPS difference when you do it right vs when you screw up your rotation).
Or if you want something easier take a look at MNK?

I'm still lvling up NIN & DRG so I can't say for sure yet.

Also what might be easy for me, might be hard for you and visa versa.

    Edit:
I don't directly have a source for this but I do remember Yoshi N. saying that he wanted to streamline DPS numbers more so that a no skill DPS player wouldn't be leagues behind a high performing DPS player.
There's still difference though but the difference isn't a huge anymore as it was before, or at least that was the idea behind it.
I don't think SE knew how horrible some people perform (no offence to anybody but some people ... seriously ..).
