Hmm, I'm not really great at written full articles about this but maybe I can give examples. (I'm 26 years old, live alone, full time job + evening classes > info might be handy to understand).

Back in 2005'ishI was introduced to WoW by the new BF of my (4 year older) sister (I used to play GW 1 a lot), I really liked it and I played a lot on his account. Then I finally got the game myself (this was during the end of Burning Crusade), I was around 14-15 years old then.
I really loved it, it was the only game I played for many years (not even playing a single player games but always WoW whenever I had time to play), I loved everything the game had to offer (minus PvP (I just don't like pvp in general, I do not play it in any game)).
I ended up with about 15K hours total played back in pandaland (this is 2 expansions back), the only real reason I 'left' wow is mostly because time issues really. I love raiding and I was in a Heroic (later mythic when it was added) guild that was ranked 3 of the server.
I do not have the time any more to raid up to 5 hours, 6 night per week. Sure you could do with much less but even as casual I always had the drive of playing that much and there's quite some time intensive grinding involved with prep work as well.

The reason I came here is because I love FF in general and still wanted to do raids and such but able to be successful at a slower pace, and here that's possible, there's no +300 wipes to reach servers first on last boss on raid patch day, ultimate maybe an exception but that's something special.

But now I have around 2k hours in FFXIV and I'm just ... I don't know, I don't know what to do any more? I'm lvl-ing my last few jobs in PoTD but outside that I'm just not motivated any more? Have to say though that the mog shop and the freemium app has driven away so much motivation and love I had for the game, for the same price I can play WoW again that has that much better servers and QOL improvements then here for example.

To give another example I also loved Destiny 1, and at the release in 2013 I played it so much (at that time I slowed down on WoW), Eventually I played it untill 2017 somewhere and I have around 4-5k hours on it and was never really bored with it either.

So I don't know, other games have kept me for so long with the same formula over and over but here it's not really working for me? Or maybe it's because my huge detest against mog station and the freemium app?

Something I'd wish they'd change is recycling the same attacks on enemies of the same type.

Things like FATE bosses ought to have unique, more...boss-like mechanics so you're not just fighting a way tankier version of a normal enemy.

Hunts and some of the Eureka/PotD versions of enemies are basically the only exceptions.

I'd like to see more events year-round. We're currently in an event drought that lasts 4~ months. I started playing the game seriously just after New Year's this year, so I've experienced 2 events that were somewhat fun, and somewhat rushed (looking at you Easter 15min lasting event). The fact that I don't have an event of any sort outside of "eh do the regular" MSQ/FATE/Roulettes/Git Gud stuff leaves something to be desired.

That said, perhaps a second Bingo system could be implemented. One that spans an entire month and includes things from all patches INCLUDING the FATE World Bosses (the Ochu, the crab, Behemoth).

(sorry, it kept saying my post was too long?)

Honestly with the amount of subs, the cash shop, merchandise and stuff like that I just expect them to not have several limitations as reasons for some of the bigger player wishes not being implemented. Its fine if things cant be done and its fine if they dont want to do certain stuff because they believe that it does not fit their game. I am not fine of having such huge limitations everywhere.

    - More inventory: Sorry cant because server
    - More free retainers: Sorry cant because server
    - A true glamour log: Sorry cant because server
    - Much more plates for the glamour system: sorry cant because server

And so on. I know its not easy to change bad coding but as a paying customer I can only care so much about their reasons and get let down that they dont change these things over time.

I also kinda had the expectation that with more subs and all the other income, that we would get the same basic content that we did get in ARR or HW and get new things on top of that. Not that we lose dungeons and basic content to maybe get one new system per expansion that might be another big flop like Diadem. Honestly if we had way more different new content per expansion I would be fine if one or two of them are not my flavor or if they are a flop..(And theoretically they could still change the flop into something better later) But the only truly new content for SB right now is Eureka..and maybe the new deep dungeon too, if they changed a lot in it. Eureka being a flop for me (and I really meant me and not whole playerbase) means that the only kinda new content I might look forward to is deep dungeon..otherwise it would still be the same old stuff that we had in HW too.

I also kinda expect them to listen more to their playerbase. After all the feedback for Diadem 1.0 they somehow managed to make it even worse..thats not what I had expected.

Edit: And for some systems like the glamour commode it would be nice to not feel like a beta tester. (The same with perform, that somehow still needed work after another patch)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Overall FFXIV doesnt introduce anything new, I would love to see something less repeated from other MMO's-enhanced socializing-I personally would want to be more immersed in the game, and for battles less button pressing and more thinking, more quality over quantity kind of thing. At this point other games are more appealing to me, and if it continues like this MMORPG's might pretty much end up unappealing in comparison to other multiplayer games.
My subscription is ending this month, I see the game having a great potential but still, its not quite there.

You know what the problem with introducing anything new is? People hate change.

And yet the irony in that is that people complain about it once they learn that it DOESNT change and get bored. (Aka stale content, repetitive content, etc.) You can't please everyone, sadly.

I work in the software field. As a result, I'm constantly monitoring feedback and developing ways to make people's lives easier. The most interesting paradox I've encountered that seems to plague nearly every sector is:

People want change to increase productivity or efficiency.
A system is put into place to get that change going.
People start getting pissed because things are different and forget what they wanted because they have to learn something now.

The MMORPG crowd is no different lol Except at least my colleagues are mostly rational!

This. A thousand times this. If I was a dev for this game I’d be terrified of introducing any new content outside the norm if I saw how some people reacted to things like eureka.
