Specialty Item Shops Can I Have It?

    Greetings!

As many of you may remember in FF11, guild vendors were only open during certain times of the in-game day and sold limited quantities of their wares to players. Once they sold out of the item, you had to either wait for the shop to re-open the next day, or buy it at a higher price from the auction house.

What I'm asking for is an expanded form of this concept to be implemented into FF14 once food & potion items get their respected effects fixed.

Make these vendors sell food & potion items that can't be crafted or obtained from anywhere else other than these "Specialty Shops". If you want to get these items you HAVE to go to the vendor.

Instead of limiting the shop to only have "X" stock of these items available when the shop is open during "X to Y" in-game hours, make the shop only open during certain days of the real life week, such as Monday, Wednesday, & Friday or Friday-Sunday

When someone from Japan talks to the NPC and he happens to be closed, the NPC would tell the player "We are closed. Shop hours are from Friday at 08:00 JST to Sunday 23:00 JST". While someone playing on the NA version would get the same message except that "Shop hours are from Thursday at 17:00 PST to Sunday at 08:00 PST". Same thing applies to EU version of game... they'd get a message for GMT.

Also don't limit the quantity the shop has to sell but rather limit the quantity players are able to purchase. This would cause players to constantly want to visit the shop because they're only able to purchase "X" of each per week. If they want more they'd have to buy them for an inflated price from someone else off the wards.

This would also create a much needed gilsink because currency would be coming out of the economy.

Place different shops in all 3 of the cities so that players have to travel to each city if they want the wares from that shop.

Make the effects of the items the shops sell comparable to something craftable, yet at a higher price. If this can't be done then make their effects exclusive, this would make people want to go to the shops.

Lastly, update the wares of the shop every other patch for with new items or seasonal event items. Like a new love potion for Valentines Day or something!

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get my entire idea across. Thoughts? Ideas for improvements?

    Cheers!

I agree it would bring at least some life into other cities and give a little treat for those who love every extra bit of immersion.

    +1 to thread

I don't want to sound like a naysayer, but shops closing on certain days and not open through 22:00 (I think?) ~ 9:00 Vana'diel time was infuriating on XI. Doing that on real life days seems a ballache for little reason to me.

thats kind of the fun of it. knowing you can miss it if you don't hurry up, take shortcuts, etc.

It's a complete bitch for how casual this game's supposed to be though. On XI, guild shops being closed was a total pain when you needed an item for a quest (I think CoP was one, with a NPC in it. Either that or Zilart.) and waiting about half an hour while your LS bitched at you to hurry up was a pain. But real life days? Dunno about you but that'd entirely throw my play schedule for the week right out of the window. I switched to XIV because the game revolved around my schedule, not my schedule around it. A move like that would entirely reverse that.

I'm fine with this as long as the "Open" windows aren't prohibitive in scale for a particular timezone. Like, don't open a shop from 12-6 AM for a particular timezone every single time. If need be shuffle them around so that while the window may suck one week, it'll be great the next week or have multiple windows for a shop in a given week.

Why wouldn't they just use the ingame time system? That's what it's there for lol. Everyone has the same ingame time so use that
