Hairstyles changing with gearsets. Slight HW spoiler within

I'm not sure if anyone has brought this up before, but I was curious about the possibility of hairstyles being saved to gearsets?

I never change my hairstyle, but decided to give myself a temporary new look for my 'date' with Aymeric. The guy is really going all out to impress, so decided I guess I can make myself a little more cute for the occasion, and cutscene screenshots

So I normally look like this:

    And then after the makeover:

I was so happy with the new look! I really wanted to keep it. But then, the scenes were over, and I swapped over to my DRK.... uggghhhh!!! Pink Knight 5.0 confirmed yo. Just a simple hairstyle change, and now I have to rework all my glamours! The new hairstyle looked good on both my healers and a couple crafters, but most of my jobs needed a whole rework, so I switched back.

Anyone else encounter the same frustration, change your hairstyle frequently, target practice on a cardboard cutout of the Aesthetician? I hope we can see something like this added in a future patch.

yeah i had the same problem with my dragoon glamour, wich used a tribal look and a bone spear. only works with the dreadlocks. but on every other gear set? uuhhh...

however, changing hairstyle at aesthetican costs gil. maybe we can work around that with a one time fee, like glamour plates who don't use prisms. and then when the haristyle is locked to the gearset, you could still change your gear manually. just save your favorite hairstyles on some sets and never meet the aesthetican again.

i like the idea, but i see problems.

I'm guessing it comes back to gear slots and where the game 'looks' to see what your appearance should be? I suspect that hairstyles would need to be 'equippable items' (wigs, I guess?) to achieve the effect of a temporary style change. Which still might be possible as a head-slot item if the game could check against your character's hair colour and apply it to the wig (plus the potential to dye it and switch colours as well as styles), but you wouldn't be able to use it in combination with hats/glasses.

On actually making use of it - I don't normally change my characters' hairstyles at all, but I'd like to be able to use the 'ponytail' style for crafter classes. It's close enough to Aurelie's usual hair (length-wise and around her face) that it would just look like she's tied it back.

Equippable wigs would be the 'easy to do' way around it. Not being able to display other headgear would be the biggest drawback, and I don't think many would be happy with it. We already want to be able to add glasses to whatever headpiece we are wearing. This would be a step back.

When researching the topic to see if anyone had posted anything similar recently, there was a thread on reddit where like Tint mentioned, the idea would be whatever hairstyle is currently set would be the one locked in the glamour plate, that's why I mentioned it being tied to the gearset. If you want to change the style of this set, you would have to go back to the Aesthetician. I haven't tried to new glamour system yet, so I am stabbing at the dark a bit.

Oh and Iscah, that was definitely my idea behind hairstyle changes. I have always stuck with one, and glamoured around it, but I never really knew I was doing so until I tried changing my hairstyle. But I would definitely like to be able to choose different ones based on the 'default' hairstyle we choose. Pulling it back, letting it down, putting it in a bun, etc.

I think it's crazy how little things like this can actually make a big difference. If this was mentioned in an upcoming patch, the feedback would be plentiful and positive over just this one thing.

This would be a great idea. Glamours need to be linked to Gearsets, too, and possibly some other functionality (/idle style, for instance, since some outfits clip pretty badly with the hands depending on their position).

This would be great, just like adding a hair slot to the glamour plates or something. I'd also like them to unlock all, hairstyles for all races as well (really want that short highlander hair with the neads for my miqote)
