Returning with a recruit

Hey guy's. So I'm returning to this game. I used to play a couple years ago. I'm recruiting my wife to play with me. So I was just wondering what would be best for me to do. To just select a lower level job that I haven't done yet. Or to start a new character and level up with her. I assume I can't just redo all the quest and story by simply switching jobs. Right? Use the same character and play a lower-level job as desired.

Right, quests are generally completed on a character basis, not per job. Of course, jobs also have their own quests.

Of course, if you have an expansion enabled, you can level beyond 50, so you might want to do duties as your 50 anyway with level sync.

Yeah, you would need a completely new character to re-do the story quests. But a lot of the story stuff is solo play anyway. When she gets to the parts where she needs a group you can help whether you still need to do the quest yourself or whether you finished it ages ago. Personally, id go for the new class(instead of new character) route to be helpful. That way if you run into a situation where you need a bit more power, you can swap to your stronger class and have it ready to go.
