    It’s more likely for people who were at the far end of the arena and end up at the tail end of the group. As a newcomer it can also take a few seconds to orient yourself to where the exit is. (Even now the World of Darkness boss intro tends to start before I get to the teleporter, but at least I’m not trying to watch the cutscene on top of that.

    Even so, odds of getting locked out of anything that isn't Rabanastre (which has a one minute boss intro cutscene) is pretty low. You'd have to actually be making an effort to not be in the boss arena.

    As an example, I had a tank in ST instantly pulling bosses without waiting for anyone to even be in the arena. They did this up until the final boss, where they managed to get themselves locked out (they tanked Xande at the entrance, so when he used Knuckle Press, the tank ran out of the arena, waited for the AoE to conclude and then got locked out because the barrier activated). They were the only one to be locked out.

    While not half as bad as MSQ roulette, the fact remains that making cutscenes unskippable when the game itself gives you an option to skip cutscenes you've already watched is absurd. It's the pattern behind it that is worrisome more than anything.
    That's before the fact that a lot of people will be actually hurt by it and could potentially even be locked out more from boss fights because of loading times. There're a lot of people who auto skip cutscenes to make up for their loading times. Forcing them to get through the cutscene and then the loading time on top of it all might just put them in higher risk of getting locked out, which is the selfsame problem we're trying to solve here. Difference is, after people watched the scene the one time, they likely won't bother with it again, but these people will be stuck with this issue every single time.

    Oh for sure, there's better ways to solve the underlying issue (like teleporting people in so that when the cutscene finishes for them, they're already inside the barrier). But I've had more than enough of the incessant childish exaggerated whining about how the extra 30 seconds will somehow make it intolerably long because MSQ roulette, when the two are in no way alike.

    If people want to be taken seriously, they should try acting serious.

    if this was implemented, I would say goodbye too alliance roulette just like MSQ roulette. forcing people to watch cutscenes they've already viewed is wasting people's time, plain and simple. FFxiv and Yoshi P have always tried to communicate that they respect their player's time in game but this goes completely against it but forcing you to waste it on cutscenes. no thanks.

    I would be more okay with being locked out of the boss room (where I can move around a little, mess with emotes, etc.) than being forced to watch cutscenes. Honestly this is what they should have done with the MSQ roulette to begin with. You want to kill the alliance raid roulette? This is how you kill the alliance raid roulette. And as someone who has spent anywhere between 45 minutes to 3 hours waiting in pre-roulette queues for the sake of farming gear I do not want to go back to this.

    If you died at the previous boss, you are behind in time. Not only you have to get to the teleporter and activate it (which triggers loading screen on top of everything else), but you must also move all the way after the group.

    Add to that the random excessive loading screens...and there are two reasons why someone can get locked out when added to the cutscene.

    Every loading screen adds up to few seconds. EVERY SCREEN. That time can be extended for whatever reason if the server is under high burden or if the persons connection to it is whimsical. Though normally when teleporting between towns I can act within three to five seconds, just few days ago it took almost 40sec to load Idyllshire. 40sec for a single scene transition screen...And alliances, at least the ones I remember, have multiple scene transitions. As said above, dying near the end adds to that count another one.

    Then there are people that actually are there to get gear. They will take time and, while not moving, open the drops pop-up and pick what to roll on and what not. It adds multiple seconds as well.

    Being locked out is very possible. It may happen to one or two people regularly if the bosses are pulled early. Literally always that I did run some alliance and the boss was pulled early, there was someone locked out. I do not do the alliance raids a lot...but hey.

    People rarely get locked out from my experiences with Alliance Roulette. So far the only person I've seen get locked out was the aforementioned tank in my previous post.

    I honestly don't see this as a big issue some people seem to be making it out to be.
