Eh, I often don't push it simply because I don't feel like it. I don't get why people wait until like 1 percent to do it, though.

Sometimes I'm thinking "eh, the other melee will do it" not realizing I'm the only melee lol

In Savage I'm banned from LBing, ever since the night my static cleared O5S involved me fat fingering tank LB :B

There is no mention of LBs in any of the tasks you do at the Smith, so I can understand if new players have no idea what it is.

I keep the LB button on my hotbar for all my classes, no matter their role. I just forget alot when I'm tank and waste it on an unneeded shield lol.

But it is useful. Use it while you can. Makes some fights quicker! Not always necessary, except when in much higher dungeons and raids, where the LB bar can make or break it.

Is it worth using LB1 on the second boss of a dungeon and then another LB1 on the final boss, or should one be waiting until the final boss to use LB2 on it? Though, regarding the second option, there's the possibility that there isn't enough gauge for LB2 even then.

As a summoner I had different reactions with using a LB:

    - Why did you use the LB on trash, melee could have used it on boss; Me: =_=
    - Why did you not use the LB on trash, dont need it on boss; Me: =_=

Or I dont use the LB on trash and want the melee to use it at a boss and just see how the boss is going down to <5% and the melee just uses it at the last second, thus using it too late since it could have taken more LP with them; Me: =_= (and internal facepalm)

People can also just tunnel the boss so much that they forget to LB and not watch the chat thus miss people talking about it. Or maybe they have a ranged as a main and just going to level their melee and thus forget that its their job to hit the boss with it.

Its probably not done on purpose or even because of them being lazy, it might just be that they forgotten it or they had runs like I did where you just did it wrong by using it somehwere where the set of people did not want it and thus fear of using it there again. I am fine if people are getting a bit cranky in chat if I misuse it (even if its not a misuse in my view) but I can see how this could scare newer players away from using it ever again. Kinda like "before I get told off that I was using it wrong I am just ignoring it as long as possible and hope that the other DD will use it instead".

Maybe they could rework it into making LB1 raising tanks, LB2 raising tanks and healers and LB3 raising everyone. Thus this might help at least a bit more than just an aoe heal (and save mana). Just an idea that went into my head after reading your post.

(In the end I am just happy to use an LB as a mage because it feels great to rain down death on my enemies :3)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
