Fair enough, but that is a completely different problem that has nothing to do with the target audience; people who are likely to benefit from the rested Exp buff most likely do not suffer from a too fast leveling curve. This is not about the Casual vs. the Harcore. This is about the already heinous lack of a leveling curve in this game. Without rested XP or a Power Level, players already grind in this game for 1000xp/kill chaining 5-10 enemies at a time. A half decent XP party in this game nets 100k an hour. It is absolutely ridiculous. Throwing yet another means by which to increase the rate of XP gained is going to turn this game into XI's Absseya which effectively killed that game.
This game has only been out for a year and a half. It cannot afford to make leveling this easy. No MMO can afford to make leveling SO easy that anyone no matter how casual can hit max level in a week.

Sadly, everyone suffers from rested XP. This is namely because you start accumulating it immediately after logging out. If there was a delay in Gaining Rested XP such as you do not gain Any bonus for 36 after you log out, it would likely solve the problem in its entirety, but that's just not gonna happen.

"Suffering" is really ill-placed for something intended to help players who don't have much play time level up more quickly, I think the word you mean is "benefit".Sadly, everyone suffers from rested XP. Personally, I think they should just add an option to turn it off for those that feel insecure with it on.
lol

to add: We can also stop making specific claims about how rested XP will work in XIV.
I don't think I read anything like that in the producer letter that just hit the lodestone this morning.Originally Posted by Kiote

I wish I could have extracted that info from the letter myself, but I could not.Sadly, everyone suffers from rested XP. This is namely because you start accumulating it immediately after logging out. Basically, I expect rested Exp to be comparable to the Guardian aspect in potency, but with more flexibility. Maybe a bit stronger for really casual player, but then again, I really don't know.
I trust the devs here for balancing they are aware of all that stuff that people bring here

If you had taken the time to actually read this forum, you would have noticed that i am discussing Rested XP as it was implemented in every other MMO since it was thought up. You may be astonished to know that it has never changed.I wish I could have extracted that info from the letter myself, but I could not.

That being said, I already stated, which you would also have found out by reading before you comment, that it is possible for this system to be different. That, however, does not mean that we should not discuss the flaws of a system and how they could possibly impact the system already in this game. That is, after all, why these forums exist.
There is a blatant flaw in the Standard Rested XP system when it is applied to FFXIV. That is the simple fact that we already receive far to much XP to maintain a decent leveling curve without the majority of player out leveling the game. There is no need for Bonus XP for a grind party in a Game that at Max level currently requires only 100 Kills to level.

Now you are assuming what I have read or not, or understood or not, and these assumptions you make are the exact reason that I disagree with some of your points; that does not mean that I am attacking your argument as a whole. If you had taken the time to actually read this forum, you would have noticed that i am discussing Rested XP as it was implemented in every other MMO since it was thought up. I entirely agree with the bolded part. Now if you try to understand my point rather than trying to find reasons to discard my posts, you will notice that what I want to point out is that I don't see why people are assuming the worse, and yes, they do.
For instance, there is no reason to assume that such bonus will be more potent than the current guardian aspect, so no reason to assume that it will make leveling easier than it is now. Is current leveling too easy? That is a different problem. There is no reason to assume that it will be totally unbalanced and ruin the game.
I respect that you work in MMOs and appreciate your input, but do you think that the dev team has overlooked such basic aspects that you point out even tho you don't know the specifics? Don't forget that the game is being built for 2.0's content and playerbase, it will never deliver a satisfying amount of content to keep maxed players busy until that time.
Of course it's worth discussing it, that's what those forums are for. But assuming a failure based on what we don't know is not constructive. Propositions, like that "Lag before accumulating bonus" thingy you brought, are constructive.

From within the pressing crowd walks out a lone child... a small tear sliding down her weathered cheek. A nearby man attempts to restrain the child, shouting verbal warnings in a frantic tone. Nervously the little girl escapes the man's ever fading alerts and continues to walk forward, her eyes affixed on the writhing creature. If you had taken the time to actually read this forum, you would have noticed that i am discussing Rested XP as it was implemented in every other MMO since it was thought up. Weak from mental and physical exertion, the creature spasms uncontrollably yelling curses in a monotone drone, it's eyes moving dully with a lucidity liken to insanity.
As the girl draws nearer to the creature, the monster begins to move toward the girl in psychotic jerks with an eerie sluggish motion.
A moogle appears between the two...
It squeaks, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, KUPO!"
The girl is startled.
The monster looks startled.
The moogle is suddenly wearing a shirt with large black letters that read "FFXI"!
The moogle speaks again in it's squeaky yet cute voice, "Why oh why... kupo... young girl you know this monster will kill you yes, kupo? And monster... you know you're about to kill this innocent girl, yes kupo?"
The girl nods.
The monster nods.
The moogle seems baffled, yet amused, "Then why kupo are you... kupo... going through with it?... KUPO?!?!?!?!?!?!"
The girl replies softly in a thick british accent, "'cause imma innocent lil o' girl, sur" *making a sadface*
The moogle nods partially and then looks at the monster expectantly with a *you should know better* look on it's face.
The monster grunts in a voice sounding much like the depths of hell made manifest, "IM A SCIENTIST! UMM...." *the creature seems confused and intent on chasing the thought indefinitely escaping the tiny thought catcher in his head* "S.T.A.R-rRRRR-RRR-RR-RRRRRRRRRRR... MMO MAKE... ME... SAD... ME KILL... ALL THING IN WORLD... !!1!1!1!1!!11"
The moogle winces at the now screechingly loud beast and sighs... "why... kupo.. are you so messed up kupo?"
The beast BASHES A CAR WITH HIS BAREFIST! "S.T.A.RZzzZzzZ!!!!!!!! ME DESTROY ALL! ANGERRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrr!"
Yoshi-P appears and slaps everyone in the face, "LOOK! IM TIRED, I BARELY SLEEP! IM STARTING TO LOOK LIKE AN OLD GRANDPA AND THIS FFXIV PROJECT IS STRESSING ME THE ****(Danish for cheese) OUT!! SO GET A LIFE AND STOP BASHING MY ****'ing GAME OKAY?!"
The moogle and everyone else gasps and nods in agreement. However, the monster is more enraged! The beast shrieks in some unkown language directed straight at Yoshi-P! "ME BETTER THAN YOU!!! DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
The beast attempts to strike Yoshi-P. Yoshi sees the fatal destructo blow nearing and...
DELETES THE MONSTERS ACCOUNT.
The End.
