Challenge Mode sounds like a great compromise to me. I know most people here came from a background in FFXI, so I suppose the whole "level" concept means a lot more to them. I played COH for 6 years, where you could have your level 50 friends bump you up to their level to run content, and likewise you could bump them down to yours to play low content. Since we really weren't locked out of content, nobody cared that it took a long time to max your character.

Long story short, I think you can either have the current system, where leveling takes no time but you have to max out to get to all the content, or you can have a long xp curve with a system to allow partying across levels.
