All dungeons should have minimum ilevel requirements?

I had this thread open in a tab and never did respond to it. Now that I’ve been going through and cleaning up my Chrome tabs, however:

I think it would be a good idea to implement some sort of item level and/or gear check for the first leveling dungeon in the new expansions, so for Heavensward and Stormblood, Dusk Vigil and Sirensong Sea, respectfully.

The last level 50 dungeons for ARR (Wanderer’s Palace (Hard) and Amdapor Keep (Hard)) require a minimum item level of 90. The last level 60 dungeons for HW (Sohm Al (Hard) and Baelsar’s Wall) require a minimum item level of 230. I don’t think that it would be too much to ask that players have at least that (maybe a few levels above—i120 and i260 perhaps, since those are the item levels of the last, unaugmented tome gear for each expansion) when they queue into Dusk Vigil (at approximately level 51) and Sirensong Sea (at approximately level 61), even on alt jobs.

Some of the harder-hitting leveling dungeons (i.e., The Vault, Bardam’s Mettle, Doma Castle) could also stand to have an item level/gear check, but I think, at the least, the expansion “entry-level” leveling dungeons should have something—it is not fun dealing with tanks or healers in i210 gear in Sirensong Sea...

I agree that there should be a minimum ilevel requirement for dungeons. There should also be a minimum ilevel requirement on each individual piece, so that one would not be able to use a low ilevel weapon - which has the most impact on damage - with high ilevel accessories.

I agree with this. Especially for tank/healer roles, as your weapon directly affects how well you can hold aggro and how much healing output you can churn out.
