had a tank in bardam's in some level 60 gear and it was an absolute nightmare keeping his squishy self up. (didn't help he didn't stay in tank stance at all either.) please save us from df nightmares like these.

One would think the ilvl requirements for parts of the story would apply to the dungeons, but I suppose that’s too much to ask.
The other day, I was in Qarn (min level of 35) and the tank was a DRK wearing level 10-20 caster/healer gear (minus their weapon).
It wasn't pretty... >x>
They had a sprout next to their name, so the group's healer and I suggested looking into new *tank* gear, and that DRK's damage comes from STR and Tenacity. We were met with silence... >x>
Personally, I think they need a min iLevel and they need to teach new players more about their job and role.
the main quest literally tells you to go do hall of the novice, though. I don't mean in a way you can ignore, it marches you right up to the hall of the novice and tells you to talk to the guy before you can do satasha. They added gear vendors for every level up to 50 i think in the main cities. By the time you even get into satasha, you are already level capped. I'm not sure what else they can do.

the real question is what's wrong with those queue'ing in such low level gear?

There needs to be a minimum ilvl and a minimum main stat requirement.
To stop people from cheesing the minimum ilvl by equipping gear they shouldn't be (other jobs). Right side gear mostly, or Tanks wearing DOW dps gear.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

A minimum requirement should definitely be added to all dungeons in the game. It does not even have to be a high level dungeon where this can be problem. A while ago I ran levelling roulette and got Toto-Rak. The tank was wearing lv10 gear and a couple gathering pieces to boot. I wrote about this on the Duty Roulette vent thread back when it happened.
Yes, even in that low level place, without level appropriate gear the tank will die very, very fast, and forget about holding aggro. I was healing that run and had to babysit the tank and also tank half the run too.

To add to this I really wish they also added job enforcement once they're unlocked. I had to run cutters cry with someone on pugilist and it was painful.![]()
