Quit Ruining The General Discussions

Quite simply put, this little wave of negativity that certain individuals started and continue to perpetuate (yeah, you know who you are, I'm not sugar coating this) needs to end. The general discussions have usually had debates here and there, but in my time here, it's never been this bad nor this spread out over the first 2-3 pages. The only exception I've seen for this was housing, and that was much more understandable. Right now, the general discussions sub forums are becoming little more than reddit jr... And that's saying a lot considering the right now, I find more good things being talked about on reddit than I do here right now.

If you're totally unsatisfied with the product, take a break and come back later. If you are unsubbing, then leave. Don't continue coming here, arguing with everybody you see in your radar, and then finish your posts with saying how much time you have left, as if anybody here is supposed to feel sorry for you. Don't come here and attack other players and start insulting them because they're using their money for legitimate things on the cash shop. Quit being a bandwagon on this train of "FFXIV is in major problem territory" when it's clearly not.

If you want to go, then go. If you want to leave feedback for your dissatisfaction, there are places you can go. You are fooling yourself if you think the mods are going to pass any kind of feedback about your unsub reasons from the general discussions to the devs. At the most, the mods will look at your thread to ensure no harassment, language, or serious personal attacks are occurring. Complaining for the sake of complaining is a fool's errand. Bandwagon all you want, ask your doing is creating an echo chamber that goes absolutely nowhere.

If you have a legitimate problem, don't take the forums down with you on your way out the door. There are sub threads and even your own SE account you can do that in.

Or... Just continue to complain for no reason at all. Because that's how dissatisfied customers do things these days... Sit on a computer and complain and tweet about it to other players on hopes that they'll either join them, or they "prove" that they're white knights themselves.

The irony about your 'irony' is that I'm not spending days in and out complaining to other players about Eureka, the cash shop, the app, what P2W is, why I am or am not unsubbed, or anything like that. I'm talking about the posters who are perpetuating the recent trend, since it was those players in the first place who started this.

The portion of the forum users tired of hearing the same posters wave their pitchforks and cry outrage over and over again over a mobile phone app all acting like the R.E.M. song that I thought died in the 90's, but clearly, it's very much alive on the OF.

To be fair, the General Discussion is where the most players congregate and SE has already admitted they look at thread size when it comes to responding to concerns from their playerbase. I don't think it's in any way wrong to have an issue and voice it civilly, particularly in one of the very few places where it actually might be heard. Different people have different tolerances for certain issues and as customers we all have a right to voice them. Just because one person has no issue with how things are implemented does not mean that their stance supersedes others, either. No one's opinions hold more 'weight' and that's a dangerous precedent to set.

With that said however, actively antagonizing others is not the way to go about it. I'm aware of who you are referring to and some of their posts and I do agree very much that debates should be kept civil.

Well, if other people on the forums can just continue to circle their complaints about their dislike and hatred for SE lately around over and over again non-stop, why can't this person make a complaint thread that they're tired of hearing the same complaints in like....10 different topics over and over again? That's their right.

Imagine you're working in customer service and you have the same lady come to the counter 10 different times with the same item to complain about for the whole 4 hours that you're working, you'd get a little irate too I'm sure.

Which is part of the inherent problem. Everyone is creating their own special thread to say the same things over and over again instead of consolidating their views in one thread. Posting the same thing in 5 different threads just makes it harder to collate the feedback and send it to the devs; instead of parsing one thread with most of the relevant information they have to parse through 50 and weed out all the duplicates to get to the actual new information. The only thing posting in a different thread does is to stroke the ego of the person who created it and annoy everyone else.

I can promise the forum mods aren't going to read through every single thread in depth. They'll focus on the one or two biggest ones and ignore the rest as redundant duplicates.
