Fatal DirectX Error 11000002

I've been having this Fatal DirectX Error 11000002 since I started the Stormblood questline a week ago, and the crashes are so often they rendered the game unplayable.

When I got the game it was fine, no crashes, but with the latest patches it has become worse and worse. I just paid my sub and I think it's not fair this keeps on happening since this kind of error is been reported since the expansion came out.

I've already tried the clean reboot, running the game on DirectX 9, cleaning my computer's fans thoroughly, reinstalling the game completely and updating the graphic card drivers (I'm running an Nvidia GeForce GT 525M) but nothing has made the problem go away.

I can run Overwatch and several other games seamlessly and without crashes, so the problem only shows up with FFXIV

Do you notice any patterns to the crashes (only when teleporting, only during combat, etc.)?

Make sure that any anti-virus or firewall has the proper exceptions for the game.

Additionally, you can try lowering some of the graphical settings, as well as some of the battle effects in the Character Configuration menu.

It looks like you are using a laptop. Make sure the battery options for the laptop are set to increase power and not save battery life.

Thanks for answering, truly appreciated.

So far I've seen no pattern to the crashes, they happen regardless of what I'm doing. The only thing worth noting is that the crashes went worse when getting close to the Stormblood questline and became unbearable as soon as I got to Kugane.

All the exceptions for the firewalls and anti-virus have been properly set for all the games on my system, as I said I have no other problems running other games like Overwatch and such for lenghty periods of time.

Battery options are set for High Performance, and I had no issue with the graphical settings so far since I bought the game

Update: Tried lowering the graphical setting and, while the game did run a lot smoother, it didn't help with the crashes at all. Also is worth noting that the severity of the crashes go from a simple crash to desktop to a complete lock of the system, which happened right now.

Thank you for the update Lunaros175.

It's likely that your PC is having trouble with the Stormblood section because the expansion is a bit more graphically demanding. The system requirements for both of them are different. You likely meet the minimum requirements for A Realm Reborn but not Stormblood.

This leaves us with little to suggest unfortunately, just because the Stormblood content is designed to be more graphically demanding and requires more power. However, I would suggest lowering the settings a bit more if you can and make sure your laptop stays cool (make sure the vents are not being blocked, etc.). Unfortunately, your options for fixing this may be a bit limited.

Hello, Lunaros. It's a shame to hear someone got problems with that DX error. I have to use very old graphical card too, since my R9290X had died. I had the error only in Eureka thought. I have to say, that understanding current GPU is a very old one, I use lowest settings too. Maybe just shadows on 1024p if not in Eureka, in Eureka - 512p. Also effects and shadows only for myself. There is an options to lower the quantity of people around youself - definitely low for Eureka. Besides, I clean uninstalled Nvidia drivers, and after that installed new version. I never tried DX9 option, cause it's simply not working - no one knows why, but ever after I reinstalled Nvidia drivers I do not get the error; hope it's not placebo, but real solution..
Getting BSOD might be a bad sigh thought. I do not want to be pessimistic, but in many cases BSOD means that some of hardware is not feeling allright.

I had problems with DirectX for months. Crashes/Freezing, etc... After trying literally everything, except changing hardware I think I finally found a fix. Try UNDERclocking your GPU by like 20 and if still crashes, decrease it by 20 again, reboot, try again until it stops. Try a maximum of -100.

I can't guarantee that this will work, but before that I would crash multiple times in a dungeon/boss fight, after underclocking the problem stopped completely, even in graphically intensive places like the Royal Menagerie.

Don't worry, its likely not just the card. Unless a Titan V isn't strong enough hardware to not get DirectX Error 11000002....

Certain video driver updates, windows updates, or ffxiv updates conflict. and its very rare to have a period of time they all place nice together, since this game has existed...

I've ran the game alone, i've underclocked my gpu, I've done about every solution people have thought of. The only fix for the dx11 bug is to not use dx11, and thats a terrible solution.

edit: One thing I have noticed though, is capping your fps seems like it makes it last a little bit longer before it crashes. I almost thought it fixed the problem entirely, but it still occurs every 3-5 hours usually. Could just entirely be coincidence though.
