A big thing about GDPR is companies isn't allowed anymore keep data or share data longer than needed for business, share it with unauthorized parties, we have the right to request what data they store and correct any incorrect data etc.
Another thing with GDPR is that the company needs to explain WHY they need certain information from you. If there isn't a very specific reason then they're required to not ask it basically. I can't imagine it affecting SE or most game companies much since it doesn't take a whole lot of personal info to make an FFXIV account for example. We'll definitely see a policy update though, that's already happening in lots of games.
