Ruining the General Discussion? What does that even mean? It's a forum you will get negative and positive threads and based on what happens around the game, threads will lean in that direction. With the recent news from the live letter no surprise the threads are leaning more onto the negative side. It's just how game forums work. For example when a expansion releases the threads lean more onto the positive side. If something bad happens (diadem *pukes*) the forums get negative just like how it is now.

If you don't like how the general discussion forum is right now why not take your own advice and just take a break from the forums for a bit to let things calm down if it bothers you so much? I noticed the general discussion forum is pretty boring sometimes so I don't come to the forum quite as often anymore until something interesting happens like live letters or new information from interviews which gives people things to discuss.

Also there have been positive threads but they just don't last long here are a few:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...for-this-game.

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...e-of-the-Azure

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...rbuncle-Attire

There are more which aren't negative but you get the idea. It's just people don't need to say much on positive things while negative things generally create discussion and potentially changes to the game which are needed.

Also this is from SE themselves. Around the time ARR released. So in theory what people are doing now with the unsub threads saying why they are leaving is what SE wants rather then leaving silently.
