To be fair, the General Discussion is where the most players congregate and SE has already admitted they look at thread size when it comes to responding to concerns from their playerbase.

Which is part of the inherent problem. Everyone is creating their own special thread to say the same things over and over again instead of consolidating their views in one thread. Posting the same thing in 5 different threads just makes it harder to collate the feedback and send it to the devs; instead of parsing one thread with most of the relevant information they have to parse through 50 and weed out all the duplicates to get to the actual new information. The only thing posting in a different thread does is to stroke the ego of the person who created it and annoy everyone else.

I can promise the forum mods aren't going to read through every single thread in depth. They'll focus on the one or two biggest ones and ignore the rest as redundant duplicates.

You never know...if the devs do respond specifically to the issues brought up recently in GD, I'd be surprised. It would be nice, yes. But like you said, I don't know.
