As others have stated there is no way to leave feedback on the Mogstation when you unsub. For the longest time there wasn't even an exit survey, and the one they have now doesn't even let you provide proper feedback unlike every other major mmo out there. This is why SE themselves encourages people ((someone actually shared a screenshot of the spot on the mogstation that says this)) to leave their feedback on the forum. So those people making unsubbed posts? They are simply doing what SE told them to do.
problem is when these posts take over the entire forums.. they should just make a separate area for people to post their quitting threads... a section for people to give feedback about the game quality...If anything is making the forum unpleasant, it's the very vocal portion of the community that seek to justify everything that the developers do, shouting down even those who post constructive criticism. It's the reason why I no longer bother with Reddit.
If you don't like a thread, nobody forces you to post in it. It's also pretty obvious from the title what a particular thread is going to be about. It's your responsibility to find the threads you like and post in them. Yet let's be honest - it's pretty clear that many of those concerned about 'negativity' enjoy the drama in many cases. They wouldn't be posting stuff like 'can i hav ur stuf' if they were truly so committed to a pleasant, peaceful atmosphere.

That's implying SE would do any kind of work. Especially work that would show any new user to the forum a nice, organized block about what all is wrong with the game which had caused people to leave in droves.
We all know how SE feels about work.
This topic reminds me of FFXIV's V1 alpha. Also please keep in mind that only people who played the last 15 days can post on these forums, so the fact a lot of players complain should tell you something.
Personally my FC that is constituted of players who have been playing FFXI for a decade and have been playing FFXIV since V1 (and stuck to it when it used to be garbage) is currently a ghost town. It should speak volume about the current state of the game (that isn't bad, but very stale).

Yes personal attacks are not great so I am not going to defend those that use them. But some poster also have gone really far with trying to insult a single person even in different threads and even when they did not insult in that thread. At the same time some posters that are negative were insulting but quite a lot of those other negative people tried to give normal feedback and yet I know of enough posters (some of them even in this very thread) that went out of their way to insult anyone that was being negative. (From misunderstanding the post and trying to lay words in some of our mouths that we did not even say, to saying that someone is lying but as soon as evidence was posted ignoring those posts and so on)
Personally, my own stance is that I feel that the game needs a new direction. But I leave those particular thoughts in that same thread that I created. I hadn't attacked other posters based on their disagreement of my stance. Contrary to belief, challenging another poster's words is not an attack. It is a debate. I didn't invade other threads that were similar to my own and start telling others how wrong they were for believing such things. I didn't create two or three more threads about the exact same subject, only to say the exact same thing. That's ...not productive. That's not fruitful for anything.
IMO a lot of the negative threads have gotten worse thanks to both sides. You have those that hate without reasons and without at least giving feedback and that will react badly if someone defends it but you also have a lot of people that are then attacking the opinons just because they want to defend SE. Maybe if those people also started to be more on topic instead of personal attacking those that are against something or dislike something, then maybe all those insults and the negative emotion in these forums would not be that way.
I agree that one should not make x threads about the same topic, but for example the unsubbing ones are from different people and I cant remember that one person had made more than one unsubbing topic. I also cant remember that many of threads that are exact about the same topic and from the same person. Vstar for example had made quite a bit of topics but those were different. Retainers, then the app, about communication and more. I think some posters are just annoyed because they dislike her and thus any topic made by her is already bad from the very beginning even if she had good arguments. (And is not showing those posting rude stuff in a good light either..) It might be that she had some similiar topics, I dont remember all the stuff I read but other than that who really made multiple topics? Maybe we hade more than one topic about the app but this was a highly negative topic so its not surprising and as far as I remember those were also from different people. You cant stop different people from posting their own topics, especially if its about something they care for or react emotionally towards.
It might not be the most productive but can you really be that way in a forum which is open for so many different people? In other forums you would have mods that will combine these things if its getting out of hand but at least here it does not seem to be much of a problem. The real important issues do stay on the front page long enough and all greed, app and other points did receive quite big threads and big amounts of likes. So those at least should have gotten the attention of the GMs/mods. I dont really care if then some other people decide to create similiar threads. We dont know if this is good or bad. Maybe it might even help, who knows.
In the end I just ignore those threads that I dont care about or that I already argued enough times. If its an interesting topic it will stay alive on the front page and later will drop off. Instead of wanting them to be gone, it would be probably better to just ignore them. Answering in them just keeps them alive longer and often turns into a battlefield thanks to some people needing to write down their frustation about such topics.
And how many threads about unsubbing are there? I mean if those are already so bad then I dont really know what to say. Also mog station does not give you the option to tell SE why you quit. It only ask if its because of money, other reasons, change in plan and nothing to write down. The only way to tell it, is by posting on the forum. And a company do want to know why someone left..because its the only way to know if you can change something. Losing someone silently is probably the worst for a company.I'm no mindreader (shocking i know) but i think the point OP was trying to make is you don't need to make a new thread everytime someone unsub. SE get their feedback through Mogstation. If you truely HAVE to make a thread about it, keep it civil and mature.
Screaming top of your lungs that a app MADE you unsub isn't productive nor calling it P2W or SE is opting for F2P when it's not.
A lot of those unsub threads had civil OPs..I do remember one where they truly wrote why they are going and yet there were enough people just being completely rude to them as if they hurt them personally with that. A lot of the recent unsub threads holds quite the value because they write why they go. Its not OMG I HATE YOU SE. No most of them have thought out posts that include reasons.
Everyone also has their freedom to stop playing a game for their own reasons. I am quite sure that most of the recent unsubs did have more than the app as a problem (and some even stated more reasons). If an app that gives us microtransaction in a sub game is 100% no problem for you thats fine. But its also fine to find it the final straw to say goodbye..(Also none of those unsub threads that I read screamed at the top of their lungs) But I do remember a couple of people that wrote in this thread that wrote quite some rude comments, like being happy or wanting their stuff. Personal attacks or trying to be witty is not a good way to discuss and its not a wonder that the forum gets worse if some people believe that a few mean words from maybe two people gives them the right to personal insult back, especially at people that did not even insult them beforehand. (And an eye for an eye is never a good strategy.)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Why don’t you follow your own advice and if you don’t like a topic, don’t comment on it. These are perfectly valid discussions being had and they have just as much right to use these forums as you.
