Well they do say it's a monthly subscription...sound like F2P games may suit you better in that case. Let us know if you find something better than FFXIV out there.
Now if they can only come out with a decent game besides Witcher that would be worth playing. Even now the Witcher is a lame game just on controls alone on any console -.-. Not sure where they get the idea of being the leader in creating role playing game if they can't even make the camera controls and actual controls work in a way that is enjoyable. Bethesda seems to be a lot better.
you may have missed my point, or just don't care.
my whole point was people talk about slippery slopes or what this or that is suppose to be but in the end it was just a greedy way to get more cash and they will always push more if they can.
you are right though i am a F2p person myself this is the first and chances are only p2p game i will ever play. i have played online games for over 10 years and until arr came out it was all f2p games i never had to spend a dime on.
course at the same time i have been here since day 1 so i won't be quitting soon either.
like this i get why there aren't free demo's anymore and that is because why make them free when people will pay to play a demo?I know, I do appreciate the games and am happy to be alive in this current gamer market as it's really an exciting time for us as gamers.
But man...I sure do miss the shareware/free demos/complete game on release/0 pre-order bonuses/Expansion packs and quality DLC over DLC unlocking content already hidden in the game - days

I will say Bathesda is better only if they announce fallout 5 this year
It's still on-topic, since you weren't the first person to comment ...
Most subscription-based MMOs out there today offer a free trial mode to test the game. You can sample the flavor of the game before deciding if you want to pay for the game and subscription.
Think you have missed the whole point about what this game is in the first place. It's a product of a business not a non-profit. At a minimum a player that plays online does not require 10 years of experience to know the difference. This greedy way that you call it is a business tool to make money. I've been on FFXIV since beta, also beta FFXI. so what does this have to do with anything? It's not a matter of being a slippery slope, is more of just plain ignorance that people can't accept that this is something that any company does in terms of business practices. The only way to stop anything of extra fees is to be proven that it's not profitable. Since it is bringing revenue additional fees will continue for unnecessary items that players just buy to burn money. If anything most of these threads are just of people venting anyways.you may have missed my point, or just don't care. my whole point was people talk about slippery slopes or what this or that is suppose to be but in the end it was just a greedy way to get more cash and they will always push more if they can.

actually i am not against you on the business practice at all. my arguement is a rebuttal to the OP saying they pay a sub to get everything in game, while yes i am against paying a sub, i still am as i find the game worth paying a little extra to play.
i don't care about slippery slopes i was just saying the slippery slope started at what they thought was ok.
and i brought up how long i have been playing not to rub it in your face but to say yea i am more of a f2p player and have mostly played them but to also show i have been playing p2p for a few years now.
i just feel there was a misunderstanding and was trying to clear it up but made it worse instead.

Specially when the end game usually would be, y'know... complete?
Nah, the issue is some people read things too literal.

If you say so.
I very strongly disagree with this sentiment. The idea that having a subscription means additional fees cannot exist is inherently dangerous for a very simple reason: it means the only way for a company to increase its revenue is to go free to play. And I for one do NOT want this game to go free to play. Since Square Enix no doubt wants to increase their revenue, telling them they can't have additional fees is the same as telling them to go free to play.
Square Enix, PLEASE do not go free to play with FFXIV.
