Question to Heavensward Age Crafters

With the new custom delivery and crafting beast tribe coming in the next patch, there's at least a chance for some new crafting gear. While I'm sure I'll make whatever they come out with, I'd like the opinion of the older crafters. Looking at the Heavensward sets, they don't seem to have too big a gap in stats.

I guess I'm trying to ask is, should I try and rush to the (hypothetical) new gear in order to get that sweet, sweet moolah from brand-new high end crafts? Or can I casually make the (hypothetical) gear as more of a nice boost than a requirement for new recipes?

The change in stats on the gear doesn't mean as much as it does with DoW/DoM gear because the difficulty is really set by the items you want to craft. If you have pentamelded the current crafted gear you will be able to NQ the new gear, possibly HQ depending on how good your melds are and how good your luck is. I wouldn't expect to reliably HQ the 4star stuff without the new gear.

As for if there will be new gear, there will at least be new accessories, I would be surprised if there wasn't also new left side gear as well.

A pterodactyl whispered in my ear last night... that a critical raw mat of the new "hypothetical" crafting gear will likely be earned from the beast tribes. This means that, even if you wanna rush it, you can't... unless you have many alts, all doing the beast tribe every day.

If you plan on rushing the new DoH set, you'll mostly just be making money by crafting said new DoH/L sets and selling them to other crafters/gatherers. The recipes that require having this new set won't be coming until 4.4, with the introduction of the 4-star DoW/M armor.

If Heavensward is any indication, chances are that desynthesis will see a return. While glass fibers were obtained through the moogle beast tribe, they were much faster to obtain by desynthing the i180 scrip gear.

There will be little reason to rush as your best gil making opportunity will come with patch 4.4 when next raid tier is unlocked.
There have been indications that 4.5 will not be the last patch of this expansion, so, there might be another tier after that. Assuming additional patches beyond 4.5, I would expect we only get right side in 4.3 and our final left side BiS DoH/DoL sets will arrive in 4.5 pushing us toward 4.6 or 4.7 whatever the final of the expansion is going to be.

That sounds alot better than alchemics honestly, getting all the yellow scrips was a chore. Dunno how psyched i'll be if there's a severe dropoff in stuff to buy with yellow scrips and the new custom deliveries though..

Whew, that's good to hear. Glad I can finish up the Ala Mhigan stuff and melding it without needing to slam on the gas, gas, gas.

Sounds about right, though i'm hoping the 4.4 set'll be more than just a dyable version of older items.

It really shouldn't. If the Stormblood equivalent of glass fibers will be obtainable through desynthesis, it'll be from desynthing lvl 70 red/yellow scrip gear.

I would wait for the next set of raiding gear personally, that's when the next tonne of gil will be made. If I must make a recommendation though I would grind the 320 and 350 materials meanwhile. I think there's only a small possibility of seeing a new set of gear. I don't know about anyone but I'm banking on us only seeing accessories, belt, and Off-tool. Else we will find much of the Augmented gear become irrelevant almost entirely, unless we get a new Augment+1. That gear could still make the current raid gear, albeit with some difficulty, similarly for how it was using Augmented in Heavensward to make Ironworks and 4*, it was doable but difficult.. Anyway, if we do get new gear, I feel utterly sorry for anyone using the Yellow Scrip gear to craft.

At this point in the game, if someone were serious about entering the end-game crafting of these hypothetical new pieces on patch day, they should already be off yellow scrip gear.
