    Mounted Bookshelf positioning/collision issue

I wanted to make a library of sorts in the FC house. It looks great from this angle:

    But this angle is terrible:

The bookshelf can't be positioned close enough to the wall to keep the camera from getting in between the bookshelf and the walls of the house. You end up seeing inside the bookshelf, or just the back of it, depending on how you move the camera. The camera view jumps back and forth because of the bookshelves which is really annoying, as well as being hard on the eyes.

Is there any way to fix this problem? Any glitch that would possibly help? I fear I've wasted time and gil making these, since this is a visual issue that I just can't deal with.

Edit: The bookshelves are badly programmed anyway, considering that no matter where you position them--even against a partition where you can get them close enough so that you don't see the back of it from certain camera angles--you'll still see in between the shelves and the books as you move the camera around if your character is facing away from the shelf. It would be great if SE would fix this, and make the camera collision on the front of the shelf where it should be.

Despite their size, the mounted bookshelves act like normal furnishings, not partitions, when it comes to camera angles.

Definitely kinda annoying. In a few places I especially didn't want the clipping, I used extra partitions. But it eats up item slot space.

I did experiment with putting partitions behind the bookshelves, but that makes the room quite a bit smaller, of course. I may have to settle for that, though it's not ideal.

This isn't the best solution, and it's incredibly time-consuming, but if you use the 'drop directly from storage' trick where you stand where you want it and slowly inch backwards until it lets you place the item, you may be able to get them close enough. You can't move them after you place them (rotating is fine, just not shifting), so it could take some time to line them up, but... it's a way I've managed to clip several things into walls where they shouldn't fit.

Hmm, I was trying that trick with placing it from the storage, and it wasn't working. I didn't spend a huge amount of time investigating it though, so maybe I'll try a bit more with it.

Thanks to both of you for the suggestions!

You can float the bookshelfs in the same way you float troupe stages.

I'm not at home at the minute to take a proper clear picture, but essentially you can rest them on the little ledge that runs along the walls then rotate them flat. This way there is no camera clipping and as a bonus they reach up to the ceiling, I then use half partitions to cover the base.

Best pictures I've got already uploaded.

Thanks for the suggestions, Jandor! I will try that and see if I like it any better.
