I only answered because you quoted me. Your post did mention the trial, yes, but it spoke mostly of the FATE. Which is fine; I was just saying that people never really speculated about it being added to the FATE, but to his trial when it was introduced.

Odin’s FATE had similar DC issues when it was first introduced. Ixion’s and Foxy Lady’s DC problems aren’t really new. The servers themselves just cannot handle that many people loading into one instance at the same time (because they’re massively outdated, I think).

I’m not sure about other servers, but people still show up for Odin on mine, and he (and all other large region FATEs) are still called out in my Hunt LS. I’ve even managed to be his killer and have him show up with my character’s name the next time he spawned. Sadly, I wasn’t online at the time to get a screenshot of that epicness.

It seems to mostly be a case by case thing I've seen with servers and by a small collection of people. From my experience on Sarg thus far, most people only care if Odin is up if they're already in a Hunting LS or in the general area. There have been a decent amount of times where Odin has been up and people have just been like "Meh" and are usually content with doing him once and that's it. Which wasn't always the case with the Fox Lady and Ixion where you had to grind out the rewards if you didn't get everything you wanted in one go, especially for the Ixion mount since it wasn't even possible to get the mount in one FATE alone at first. Of course, that was made easier much later, but you should be able to get my point.

Honestly, all in all, it should have been something tied to Odin directly in-game as the final result, but it didn't...and there's not much we can do about it now anymore. :<

If you've ever justified any of the cash shop, you shouldn't be complaining about this. I, and plenty others, considered everything in the cash shop to be too high to justify. We were told "It's optional, you don't need it." This argument can be applied to anything in the cash shop. $1 was out of our price range of justifiable and we were told to deal with it. You should do the same.

I disagree with the idea you couldn't justify it in the past, and disagree with it in the present. Like with wedding prices, ideally that is supposed to be a 1 time thing. But the cost of dyes? outfits? stuff that people will likely want more then one? ... i would advice double checking what is fair, and look at getting higher amount of sales vs costs analyst.

The prices did change, and people are disagreeing with that saying they are too high, I am assuming you also agree with that notion, I think that should be the focus.

Speculation. We don't know what crews may or may not have happened if a cash shop specific development group wasn't created.

You say that the people who are against the cash shop assume things, but you are doing the same.

my biggest gripe is the lack of an account wide option for items. I play multiple characters so the value of purchasing an item for one and only one character doesn't justify the price.

I dont even understand why people buy this stuff anyway. Ok it looks nice for the few hours you use it, but like with another glamours its getting boring very quickly.

Maybe they buy it because it makes them happy....? Because they really like the look of it...? I mean, you might as well ask why we bought XIV and why we're playing it too with the way the loaded question is phrased.

It's not a matter of whether or not people feel special, they buy it because they want to. It's simply human nature. The same can apply towards people who don't buy it because they don't want to or don't like it. We do and like things for ourselves, not because other people told us to like them or told us to dislike them.

I like apple pie. I don't question why other people don't like apple pie nor think I'm special or unique because I like apple pie.

I don't like the implications of where this is going. But to answer your question, I bought the mount because I personally liked how it looked.
Same with some of the other things I have bought from mogstation. Do I want to feel unique/special? Sure, why not. The mount fits with Kaiva's monk theme right now, so the mount with the AF gear does make me look unique in my eyes.

Because they want to buy it? Because they like the items and want them? It has nothing to do with wanting to feel "unique" or "special"; if you loved books, and you saw a very nice leather-bound collectors edition of one of your favorites, wouldn't you want to own it because you love the story and the book looks really nice? Or even just a simple copy of a book you love. Or anything that you've wanted to buy in general.

People buy things because they want them. It isn't about feeling "special". Can't say I like the implications you're making with that statement.

I've seen several people who were defending the cash shop say otherwise. It may not be everyone, but there are definitely people who do it for that reason.

Exclusivity is the word (by definition, excluding others), and there are definitely plenty of people who will pay for that. I disagree with the notion in general, but they'll always win because why wouldn't a company sell it to them?

I believe this most recently came up with the Shiva statue and emote. People wanted the emote to be separated from the statue and sold at a reasonable price, instead of locking it behind the statue. Others defended the practice saying that they wouldn't like that because then the emote wouldn't be as special.

But because every once in a while, the cash shop does put something that I personally want, I won't outright dispute the cash shop. I admit, even I'm tempted to buy something now and then. But I resist because it goes against my own personal code of ethics. I believe it is the responsibility of consumers to vote with their wallet, and to do that I must not buy anything on the shop.

For the record, and this may seem contradictory with a lot of what I debate on other topics around here, I wouldn't have as much problem with the cash shop if items could be traded in-game for gil. This is because it would remove the exclusivity of the item, or at least mitigates it. It also has other effects such as making gil more useful, which I view as positive.
