Cash shop pricing is getting a bit much...

Here's a hypothetical: say you went to the store and paid a dollar for a candy bar. Then the cashier took it, cut off 10%, and asked you to pay another dollar for it. Would you be okay with that?

That's not the case here at all. For starters, you paid to even enter the store (monthly subscription). But! there's a bunch of candy you can eat, all under the price of admission. The question is why do those candy cost more and why do they keep raising the prices and giving you less candies per bag (bonus codes shipped with physical items becoming single chara vs. account wide). I agree with whoever said that had these items not made it to the Mog shop, they wouldn't have been made accessible at all, so it's not a question of how we would've gotten them, it's Mog shop or bust. That said, the mog shop is debatable.

It's ridiculous that people thinking feeling entitled is wrong. I absolutely feel entitled to a product if I'm paying for it.

Asking for an item for free that was produced specifically for another country (in the case of the Nezha items, China—keep in mind that the Chinese servers are run by a different company than SE, and are entirely separate from JP/NA/EU; they even use a different subscription model) in which that audience had to pay for, and that would have never been made available here if players had not asked for it to be, is being entitled. They paid for the product in addition to paying for access to FFXIV China’s servers; why should you get it for free?

Your example is a poor. Did SE somehow take away 10% of your subscription period and try to force you to pay $15 again to get it that 10% back? Are they forcing you to buy optional items for $10/$18/$24 USD? Are such items necessary to your progress in the game?

You’re being called unreasonable for wanting items others had to pay for, for free, and for claiming that “the average person” cannot afford a $10/$18/$24 one-time purchase, but can somehow manage just fine paying $13/$15/potentially more if they have additional retainers a month for a subscription. You know, aside from calling people “idiots”—most posts seem to be calling you out on that more than anything else. Try not to name-call, and maybe people will be less inclined to call you out next time.

There's no contractor making them doing this, it was entirely SE.

These items are contracted out from the companies that run the Chinese and Korean servers for FFXIV specifically for their cash shops—cash shops are actually very popular when it comes to these regions. They are requested by this host company, and SE produces them for them.

See what I mean? this link holds no value in what was being said. I was refuting the idea SE needs to charge a lot because it is china SE but it is still SE? This is what happens when you run into someone that can't prove anything (and often mistaken on facts like how they try to claim to be a know it all in US politics when they do not even know the difference of a republican, and a republic.) They only act to know things.

FFXIV belongs to SE, but the company that hosts FFXIV on Chinese and Korean servers is a third-party. The Chinese version of FFXIV is actually different from the version that we play (e.g., the story is different because Chinese censorship); it even runs on a completely different model than ours. We pay a monthly subscription, but they pay a “pay as you play” subscription, meaning they pay a fee for the time they’re actively in-game, not just 1 lump sum of $13/$15 a month.

These outfits are commissions by this third party company that host these servers, designed specifically for the Chinese/Korean cash shops (which, there is far less animosity towards in those countries, as cash shops are very common in their MMOs from what I understand, and the practice is not frowned upon). While they are designed by SE, they are still commissioned products of a different company.

I didn't even realize this (and it is helping me accept the cash shop's existence for this specific set for the same reasons you mentioned. If a different entity from SE has a stake in these, of course they won't be included in the sub).
I do wonder though, how many cash shop exclusives (exclusive as in: not from a past event) are because of this reason? Is it the majority of it? Or just some of them?

There is also another Korean exclusive outfit that includes the really pretty flowy dress that clips to all hell and back when you sit down, but that have the cutest set of heels, that will probably end up in there eventually as well.

I heard something about the Fuga Attire being from a JP 7/11 event, but I am not entirely sure. I also think that the Doman Magpie minion is from the Korean version of FFXIV, but I would have to research and find a source to back that up.

I do want to add that the items on the Chinese shop appear to be purchased with 点券, which roughly translates into some sort of point vouchers—I’m guessing this is probably their equivalent to Crysta? Or something similar maybe? I am trying to figure out how much it costs for said vouchers to figure out just how much they would pay for this stuff (the Fire Footwheels mount is 22,800 点券, for example), but I don’t understand Mandarin without the help of a translation tool, so it’s a bit difficult lol. I’m thinking I would have to probably have an account to see specific values. This is assuming that they aren’t purchased from elsewhere, of course. Korean items, as far as I know, are in Korean Won, but I would have to find specific advertisements to confirm.



I also wanted to add a response to the individual who keeps talking numbers about the cash shop versus in-game items—you do realize that in that 368 number you’re quoting, there are items included such as job potions (one for each kind save RDM/SAM, so 13 total), Retainer (lol) jump potions (3 bundles—1, 3, or 5), MSQ skip potions (1 for ARR skip and one for ARR+HW skip, so 2 total), rare dyes (that are also obtainable in-game, mind you; and are in bundles of 1 pot or 10 pots for 20 different dyes), Fantasias (3 bundles—1, 3, or 5) and past event items (that were first released in-game). The amount of Mogstation exclusives are far smaller than that 368 value you keep giving.

I apologize for name calling, but it's honestly how I feel about those people. And btw, I stand by my hypothetical. I'm paying for my time in this wonderful world they've created, but they're taking some of that world and gating it off behind a paywall.

Your subscription does not pay for the cash shop items—it gives you access to the server and the content developers deem to put on them. Nothing more. If they weren’t in the cash shop, they just wouldn’t exist at all. Or would be tied to other external merchandise (artbooks, OSTs, statues, plushies, etc.). Or a promotional event that may or may not be as successful/smooth in some countries as opposed to others (looking at you, Amazon promos for the Maid/Butler Attire). You wouldn’t see them appearing in the game for free; they’d be designed specifically for other external purchases, or just not at all.

Your hypothetical is still poor. As I said to you previously, did SE take away 10% of your subscription period and then demand you pay then $15 to get back those days they took (referencing the cashier charging you $1 for the candy bar, but then taking away 10% and asking for another $1 to get it back)? No, they did not. Are they forcing you to buy the optional items on the cash shop? No. Are said items key to your in-game progression? No.

You are still under the assumption that all of these items would exist if the cash shop wasn't a thing. A lot of these were created FOR the cash shop. If it never existed, neither would those items. THAT is what people are calling you out for. You are posting about how you feel you are being cheated out of items you wouldn't have gotten anyway because they never would have been made.

The problem as some ppl have said is that those gears are not of SE property and as such cannot be given for free because there are some licenses involved.
If that's true or not that I cannot say, I would settle for ppl not asking for more items in the cash shop

But despite my last post, I'm actually fine with a mogshop existing; as long as it has stuff like timed exclusive items that were in the game, but not anymore. I own up to the fact that I missed some event items, and I'm okay with there at least being an option to get it rather than not.

What I'm not okay with, is creating items that are mogshop exclusive right from the start. I'm paying for them already with my sub, but they're gating it off with more real money? That is unjustifiable.
