    Tank Stats!?

Havent played in awhile. was wondering about what Materia I should use for tanks now? I see a lot of ppl using Direct Hit. I mostly play pld/drk.

Also.. Does the Stats have a hidden cap? I know gear wont allow you to go over a amount for MAteria. I didn't know if it had a stat cap or a range you like to have each stat close to.

For PLD/DRK you'll want to meld direct hit yes. The stats have a cap per piece of gear but there is no overall cap, there are however stat tiers. For example, raising your crit won't matter unless you hit the next crit tier in which case any crit in that range will result in the same boost to crit.

So for spots I cant put Direct Hit in I should put Crit in its spot. or should I use Tenacity?

Right not my stats are. Crit 1037, Det 1482, DH 1444 and Tenacity 1471

Unless you are tanking Savage or an EX primal close to min ilvl Tenacity is... a meh stat. It works best when you don't over gear content. For everything else most tanks meld DH on left side and STR on right side. Also no tank gear comes with DH so you can always put DH in it.

    put strength in the accessories.

If your gear has approximately 1700 crit then Crit melds are the way to go, for paladin and dark knight they should still meld Direct Hit in the places crit is already maxed out. Below 1400 crit and it seems pretty clear to meld direct hit. In between those values its difficult to tell.

There aren't any pieces of tank gear that you can't fully meld DH on since tank gear doesn't come with it naturally. However, if you plan to play warrior as well I would go with full crit and det where you can't meld crit because PLD/DRK are still good with crit but WAR gets very little benefit from DH. Of course, strength in the first slot on your accessories. You should avoid melding tenacity, even DET is a better stat. You don't have to go out of your way to avoid it on gear (though you really should) but you should never meld it.

Always meld STR in the guaranteed slot. Afterwards, it depends on which tank. Warrior prioritizes Crit and Det due to the recent changes to Inner Release. Dark Knight, honestly, doesn't care one way or another while Paladin prefers Direct Hit > Crit. If you intend to rotate all three tanks, focus on Crit > Det/Direct hit. Paladin only loses a small amount switching between Direct Hit and Crit whereas Warrior suffers far more noticeably.

As for Tenacity. Ignore it completely for melding purposes. While decent on gear itself, especially during prog. There will never be a scenario where Tenacity benefits you enough to warrant melding. This may change come 4.4, however as it stands currently, you don't meld Tenacity.

Generally, no. Main stats contribute significantly more to your overall damage, thus ilvl matters above all else. I say typically because a select few may come out ahead, but it's hardly worth worrying about until you're min/maxing.
