    Crafting may be the only thing that needs an EXP boost, for everything else the EXP rate is ridiculous between 30~50 where we have a reversed leveling curve which is going to have to be fixed sooner or later by adjusting the specific EXP rate between 30~50 because it sure as hell won't be healthy once the cap increases. (I don't mind it taking only a day or two to get 1~20 or 20~30, but it sure as hell should take a lot longer than a matter of hours to get 30~50 in any setting.)

    Unless the MMO environment changes and something big happens to modify the way the genre is currently played, "original" ideas cannot surface. It's all been done before. Until something shakes up this genre, it will remain stagnant. Unfortunately I don't think XIV is going to break the mold and instead seems to be trying its best to fit itself into it nicely. At least that will draw players to the game, and that's the most important thing SE needs to do right now anyway.

    Why do we need rested exp?
    "The effect of eating ingredient items (such as raw meat and fish, fruits, and other unprocessed foods) will be changed. Eating such items will only grant an experience point bonus."

    8 hrs of sleep and a well balanced breakfast are important for a growing body! Can't just eat eat eat and not sleep, can you?

    I think the exp bonus for food is to make it more relevant to general play in the game. It's a minor increase, but its also enough to make people feel like they are missing out if they don't have food while leveling.

    The rested EXP is just another way of closing the gap between casual and hardcore players. Like, FFXI's exp rings, Guardian's Favor, and the Fatigue system, it allows those who don't have much time to play to catch up to those who play constantly.

    Also, I don't recall where I read this, but doesn't the rested EXP only work with guildleves?

    If so, I don't know why anyone would be against it.. Its just the Guardian's Favor automated.

    If there is no gap or hardly any between the hardcore and casuals.... that is stupid, I wanna see those BA guys running around not everyone be just above normal and normal. God, I'm like breaking right now.
