And by that, I mean it seems like it's designed in such a way to teach brand new ranged dps players the basics, like positioning (staying out of AoEs in such a way for you to keep casting), and MP Management (Even though their MP pool is effectively limitless thanks to Umbral Ice, though that also helps recover from deaths due to mistakes relatively easily as well).

Also the fact that (outside of role actions) you don't have added utility things to bear in mind, so you can focus on learning to play the rest of the class at a competent level

Any other caster mains sharing some insight as to which of the ranged dps (doesn't even have to be a caster) makes for the best introduction to the role?

I can see where you're coming from but the learning curve being too steep to be a good thing for a begginer. But outside of that I'd say BLM is really good to teach positioning and all other mentioned things, but I'm adding that RDM is simmilar to what you mentioned.

Corps and Displacement force you to move to damage making you minding your positioning, having a melee attack makes you mindful of how mechanics affect melees even though you're a dps jobs and you don't have unlimited movement with dualcast even though it eases it. Plus they have a lenient MP management that has to be done.

Simmilar arguments can probably be made to other jobs as well.

Blm is good to teach a player for example to maximize movement. And what i mean is using tools at your disposal if you absolutely must move or side stepping and also given the fact that at a certain threshold your cast will still go off even if the bar is not all the way
