just wondering if anyone has gathered any information on these. i'm struggling to find a cheap helm to stack materia on and the electrum circlets seem to fit the bill. any advice would be great.

It's currently debatable if elemental potency affect our fists. Since mid-level hats are few for pgl, i'd say that or the new turbants.
that was my initial thought as well, but i figure since the elemental materias are allowed to be affixed to our weapons that the hats must helps out too. that is what i was hoping to find out from the community.
i'm about to have a couple made, one fire and one earth. if i find anything out myself, i'll post it here
I got a Fire Circlet and added +17 Intelligence to it. It saves me space as I can swap to this when nuking as my Conjurer. Plus the extra MP never hurts either. As for increased elemental damage, I don't really think it helps too much, at least anything I've noticed.
Wile leveling and using both of the current fist spells pugs are given ive noticed that some monsters earth hits more then fire. So with that said not only do these spells give a stat bonus (attack-Defense) they also turn your attacks into the element of the spell.
So i see no reason why stats that increase magic attack/potency accuracy and so on wouldnt work.
If they work like the elemental staves in FFXI (+X% more damage when the damage is that element), then I could see it helping. However, if it works by essentially making your attack magic potency stat better when using spells of that element, I can see it not working as I'm fairly certain pugilist still uses attack rather than magic attack.
They turn your attacks into the element of the spell but No elemental potency+ on the gear can make your attacks better, it has been tested already.
Either the system is broken or its just haven't been implemented yet.
For the time being your "elemental" stances are normal attacks with fire and earth attributes that can't be boosted.
Um...
Converts your attacks into fire attacks and grants a bonus to attack power. Effect fades upon reuse. MP is consumed while effect is active. Cannot be used simultaneously with Fists of Earth. Also @ Urthdigger the elemental potency isn't a % increase, it's pretty much a more specialized Attack Magic Potency since it comes in larger quantities in gear/materia but only applies to one element.Converts your attacks into earth attacks and grants a bonus to physical defense. Effect fades upon reuse. MP is consumed while effect is active. Cannot be used simultaneously with Fists of Fire.
Like Meleena said, the potency stuff doesn't seem to work for PGL atm but hopefully it will someday, it would be a nice use of the foot slot as far as materia goes.
Well, I didn't mean precisely a % increase, more basically if it increases the damage itself, or essentially boosts attack magic potency for those spells. As it does appear to be the latter (like I'd assumed), that would definitely explain why they do not help.
