Armor model for characters with tails?

Okay, this has been bugging me ever since I saw the new paladin AF. Can we please get an armor model that takes into account the races that have tails? Having your tail clip through a cape all day is why I've had to keep glamouring to other armor sets. I know it doubles the work on some armor models, but please! Our tails need love!

Yes, and no. 2.0 has some as well. The tail often clipped through the tail protector piece that jutted out, or didn't even line up with the hole.

They did, look at the Darklight Gear.

V1.0 gear actually had the gear designed to fit around the tail however. The clipping issue has more to do with the tail being a fixed animation loop, not a physics-affected thing. Also the tail in V2.0 onwards sticks straight out, where as in V1.0 the tail followed the character's body shape.

Let's stop there. It's not double work, it's just lazy of them. It's super easy to change the model to adapt the tail. If they will spend time doing the actual model, spent the SAME time doing the PROPER model. It's just unjustifiable.

They would need to generate more than one "legs" piece per model however, because one of the Au Ra tails is not like the other, where as the Mi'qote tails are all the same size except the fluffy one. The more or less correct way to solve this is to create a "tail gear" part for all gear that replaces the "tail" on tail'ed characters for each gear that would normally clip through the legs/body gear (or cape). So for any armor, the tail would also be armored, and for clothing (eg caster gear) there would be pocket/cut-out's around the top of the tail where it connects to the legs gear so that the tail can't clip through the legs/body gear. That would reduce the complexity from "clipping through everything and visually ridiculous" to making it look like the clothing/armor was designed to fit the tail and isn't simply a hologram over a naked model.

Also could you not stuff the tails into something? I know there are only a few tops/pants that does this but people chose their tail style because they like it. It's not fun thinking of how cramped and painful it would be to constantly have you're tail in a fixed pose all day. Just look at Evenstar body or the lv 60 drg jse as examples of this. We already know some tops/capes get cut to allow a tail to stick through it. Why they have become lazy on allowing a tail to clip not only through pouches but shirts and capes I don't know. I mean they already take away things from the version they give Lalafells. The whole clipping issue just baffles me. They won't do certain things with gear or hair styles because of it yet they seem totally fine with all the other things that does clip.

No... actually there are 1 type of leg or every possible combination of Race and gender. They just need to swap the Aura and Miqote ones with a proper design. By proper design I mean by no clipping, not by having armor on tails.

There's actually more than that which needs improving, but it goes back to the fact that they went too far away from the graphics fidelity angle with FFXIV 2.0 vs 1.0. It's still possible to create a game that has simple enough graphics to run on most machines, yet still handle unique body types. At this point, though, I'd just settle for armor that doesn't conflict with character anatomy.
