Just a humorous observation I've made.

This is just a little observation I've made that I find humorous.

I just started playing FFXIV, and I'm trying out each class.

Everytime I happen to be in one of the big cities as either a healer or tank I get SPAMMED with FC invites.

When I'm on as my Archer, I get a few here and there, always at least one.

When I'm on as any other DPS... crickets

FCs obviously want to get tanks and healers in to groom them, and some want Archers/Bards to groom, seems ain't noboby wants DPS since there are so many of them. Not to mention that probably the bulk of any FC recruiting already has all the DPS they can stand.

Anyway, after my bajillionth FC invite on my Cnj last night it just hit me... especially since I had just changed from my Rogue to my Cnj right in the very spot. I hadn't even turned around before an invite came in. Despite having stood there for about 20 min as my Rogue trying to figure some things out, the Rogue never got an invite, LOL.

I think people try to bind tanks and healers early to their FCs and probably for their raid statics, because of the natural low active playerbase in this roles.
Also Bards are the best supporting DPS.
It's mostly hard to find someone above average, and the average is really low these days, so they might try to get them early and teach them to play "on a good level".
All other DPSs are a dime a dozen at all levels of play.

I think I got my fastest FC invite a while back when I had created a character just for the purpose of running around in game a bit and testing out a new look. I had chosen thaumaturge as the starting class, and managed to get an invite before my character had even loaded in for the first time. Like before you even get to the part where it asks you if you are usuing a controller or mouse and keyboard. Then I got another In that little bit of time after that while you are still in the tutorial.

It seems like some don’t really care about class and are just looking for new blood.

Back when I had to temporarily leave my FC, I received the most invites when on my Ninja. Go figure.

Its more than likely random, people mass inviting without any messages obviously don't pick and choose all that much. When they start messaging you tough, you see they sometimes only want to secure an in-demand job. Tanks and healers for having the lower player base, also BRD and NIN for being in virtually every static ever definitely seems to get more attention.

But once again, I feel its mostly random.

Actually I'd say about three quarters of the invites come with a /tell with a brief description. I'm not interested just yet so I always reply with: "Not at this time but thank you."

So I do think most of my invites are class/role targetted.

I just found it particularly humorous that I was on as my Rogue standing in the same spot for about 20 min surfing web reading up on Rogue things, and not a peep out of anyone.

Switch to Cnj, and BLAMMO /tell asking if I'd be interested in joining XYZ FC, lol.

Similar things(such as being asked to join an RP) can happen anywhere...even while you're in the middle of fighting a FATE monster in Eureka. Had someone ask me if I wanted to join them in RP because they liked my glamour. As soon as the monster died, I said thank you, but not interested.

It is something I did notice from time to time while leveling the Summoner, but I think it was mostly a matter of timing.

My old FC fell apart in the last patch or so of HW, so ive been solo since then. Started at 60(BLM, all crafters and gatherers), went up through 70(BLM, all crafters and gatherers) that way. In my experience, 2/3rds of invites are sent without a message or explanation. Of the 1/3rd who do send a message, its almost always the same one or two members of each FC doing so. Im thinking about changing my responce from a polite no. Something like "One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results". I mean, if i didnt join the first 75 times you asked, why would i now? As for class distribution, i get them about equally regardless of what im equipped as.
