If they are really quitting that is. Take Destiny 2 and Bungie for example, people will just quit and let Steam active player tracking do the talking. Not to come to forum ranting.

People didn't just leave, or you've totally missed what really happened on Destiny's official forum (the #RemoveEververse thing). They litterally drowned Bungie with new threads everyday. And it worked! I mean, they've got Bungie's attention. The game is still what it is, but still. So your example is quite funny. ^^
But no, especially on a MMO as it's too vaste, numbers can't tell stories. And at least, it shows that people still care.

I totally understand that it's probably very annoying from your point of view, but unfortunately it's the only way to be heard by Square Enix (then it's their choice to listen or not, obviously). People just leaving won't explain why they are leaving, and Yoshida himself is always asking for feedbacks ; and, not only positive ones.
