Ifrit does have higher def than your average mobs at the same level, which inadvertently making it harder to build threat on for a GLA and adds another factor into the calculation.I wouldn't completely rule this out, but my test mobs ranged from R1 to R44 Cactuar Jack and everything seemed to be in proper order. Also I would point out that if you take a GLA and THM out to an R58 mob (Ifrit's level), the GLA has a MUCH easier time holding hate than on Ifrit. Not saying Ifrit is an 'exception' because of that, but I would be surprised if the answer was simply mob rank.
That doesn't explain why the non damaging, enmity gaining abilities used by Glad at the start of the battle either seem to be generating less enmity or Magic DD's are generating more than 1 to 1
Yes, I was just saying GLA having an easier time generating hate on other R58 mobs when compared with Ifrit is also due to Ifrit's higher than average defense.
The starting ability not generating the expected amount of hate could very well be explained by Stan's theory of Rampart and Sacred Prism/Cure landing on party members who are not on Ifrit's hate list generating zero hate as a result.
There is still the discrepancy of hate generated by Magic Damage seems to be higher than expected, Stan and I will take a stab at it tonight based on your theory, Stan, you are still the stone thrower!
