After XIII I would rather burn my money than buy XIII-2, wasn't the worst game I've ever played but it was the worst final fantasy.
Sure gameplay seems slightly improved based on the demo but the story/script/acting are all still atrocious. It's like a bad combination between a cartoon and a soap opera.
SE needs to do whatever it takes to bring back Hironobu Sakaguchi, every FF he didn't have a role in seems to have sucked big time.

I'd like to believe that but after 10 years of waiting to see them make an FF like they did in the 90s I've lost all faith. And I think it comes down to what I said about them needing Hironobu, he created the series and made it what it was. What's that saying "cut off the head the body dies"?Yeah well this maybe the best FF game since FF7, not even kidding.
And on that note I think it's just wrong of SE to keep making them without him, the series was his legacy, it would be like somebody stealing star wars from George Lucas.

Nope totally backwards. Joe Frazier when talking about he's preference to work the body instead of going for the head to get fast knockouts with his power - "Kill the body and the head will die". Has since been quoted a bunch. Even in Fear and Loathing. Essentially, no one power is bigger than his subordinates. A guy might be the smartest guy in the world, but yet lacks the drive. His head is worthless without his body.
You then reference Star Wars... That is PERFECT example of the body dying and killing the head. George back in the day surround himself with some of the brightest minds in the business. Every body worked hard to achieve the goals he set out. Once he lost that body, the meat, the bread and butter, the whole series went to shit.
This is sums up everything for the video game industry as a whole. Programmers used to be kids who played video games non stop in their rooms. Xcom? Made by two kids. Lucas Arts adventure games? Made by 5 people. They used to be the fans. Now a days- from my old college classes, programmers in my class were hipster Steve Jobs t-shirt wearing guys who just wanted to make cool iPhone apps along with people who just wanted to go into the IT world. The body of these video game companies is dead when THATS the work force you now chose from (Nothing against these kids - they were very bright minds). Think about it - the programmers, the real youth of today... You think they care about a game from the 80s legacy? No.

FFXIII made me lose all hope in the stand alone games of the FF series from this point on.
Ill save my cash till SE actually hire's decent story writers; no offense to all the fan boys and people who legitimately like the current series.

Ah well Frazier retired before I was even born, I think it's true either way though. The FF's Hironobu didn't work on were X-2 XII and XIII, which ones are the most hated by the original fans?
I blame a lot of their problems on management though, everybody wanted to blame Tanaka for the way FF14 tanked, when your bosses tell you "have it ready by X date or you're fired" you end up releasing an incomplete game. The person who should have stepped down was Yoichi Wada. Here's a part of his quote on wikiThat's the pattern you've seen out of the FF series for a while, this idea of fixing a formula that wasn't broken. So focused on reaching out to a "Larger audience" and making something "New" that they punish their real fans that liked their games the way they were. I wish they would bring back the world maps, random encounters and NOT moving around in battle, worked for almost 15 years why change that?Internally and externally I feel there's an expectation of Square Enix to offer something new, and I really think that the Final Fantasy team could create something completely different, but at the moment they're strictly catering to the particular audience they have now."
That's the good thing about the Dragon Quest series at least, DQ 8 felt just like playing 1-7.

IF anyone has a wii and likes games Hironobu Sakaguchi has been involved with then the last story looks very intresting.
My own view is that there something about the way he works on games that has that magic touch, lost odyssey had that same feeling as some of the older final fantasy games had.
Anyway what i like about final fantasy atm is that maybe some new fans are enjoying the games, it has almost that next generation feel about it , at least final fantasy 13 does.
ff14 has a different feel from 13, (some designs look similar to final fantasy 12) with vs which will probley get changed into final fantasy 15 that has another feel to it that closer to a final fantasy 7/kingdom hearts type game from what i have seen of it so far.
I hope 14 can really turn into something good, atm it a way to go but enjoying it for now and see no reason not to support it if i enjoy it.
