Most samurais ive met never used AOE

    Title says it all.
Like when i enter an instance and the tank is pulling the whole room,
And i often see a samurai hitting 1 single mob out of 12.
Why is that? Is that normal? I mean there r PRETTY few ive encountered samurai doing aoe combos. But most samurais ive met thru leveling do 1vs1 instead of hitting 11 other mobs around. I mean same problem must be for the melees.
    Cmon.:T i dont want a slow dungeon.

Hmmm depends on situation and type of mobs. Depending on the player and how they manage their TP it's normally not worth it and faster to focus on one. Then use Aoe Tenka Goken for better dmg without sacrificing TP. Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to understand unless you experiment it your self.

If you look at the TP usage on some if your support characters don't replenish your TP you become a bit useless for some time. So best way to explain it is to just play it your self, AOE, and see what I mean. Once you reach 70 and depending on the dungeon or what your doing it will make more sense.

Sadly, I'm in your boat, and I feel your pain. Happens to most melees, I've seen that happen especially with dragoons and monks. Hell, lately even bards.

SAM AoE is really TP intensive, even more so than any other physical dps. I can see some SAM deciding that it's not worth it which I don't agree with. The other side of that is that it is very easy for a SAM to run out of TP in an AoE fight especially without a brd/mch, so at some point a SAM will likely be forced to single target.

But a SAM who single targets with a full tp bar makes me sad.

I don’t know why some people seem to not want to AOE, I mean it’s an easy way to make the run go faster. There isn’t really any reason not to.

I’ve only just starting out on samurai and at (I think) level 54, but I’ve AOE’d in all the runs I’ve done with the job. Potentially running low on TP if a big pull goes on for too long doesn’t seem like a reason not to.

You also have to keep in mind that other various factors come into play.

For example, When I play DRG or SAM I can sometimes over power the tank. Sometimes they can be under gear or really don't know how to tank. Normally when I don't aoe is do to this or that one of the mobs has an area aoe ( Minatour or Chamira ) were I focus on it and stun accordingly. ( Sometimes you can't count on tank to stun or others to silence ). based on judgement yes we choose to not aoe. another instance is based on what level dungeon your in...I've come across players that are just lazy to do it -.-. Yes it's sad to see TP bars, it's even sadder when tanks over pulls knowing Mages have low MP and DPS has low TP.

You can focus on a single mob to monitor for stunning needs and still AoE.

As far as SAM goes for me ill do single target with aoe finishers in packs of 3-4 to help maintain tp and keep personal buffs up, anything more and ill use the AOE combo skills combined with the finisher for more aoe damage. However, I’ve found that even with invigorate and refresh or goad I’ll burn through so much more tp, and neither of those skills will be back up during the next large pull from my experiences. Not saying what I’m doing is the right way or “proper”, it just helps me personally with TP management.

Remember that meme about ninja being better for single target than AOE? Now it's samurai.
