If a significant amount of people feel inclined to downgrade themselves to run Sastasha with their limited kits for the umpteenth time, I'm inclined to think there are far, FAR bigger issues in the higher level content than the fact that you can avoid it.
It would swap the positions. So if they filled it all with low level stuff so the gear couldn't be moved, it wouldn't affect it as it would just swap the position (it'd be based on best gear you have, and if people are that willing to delete gear just to avoid it, so be it). If it really came to be it, you could have it so it charged them gil (allowing them to go into negative gil if needed so they can't just empty out their gil to get around it, and it'd work like a loan with interest, and if you accrue too much debt your character gets deleted), in order to remove the currently equipped gear from the game (without reimbursement) and replace it with better gear in levelling duties. I didn't say it'd be easy, and I wasn't attempting to imply it would be with that remark, I was attempting to say "Here's a solution."
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
I agree but just for the fact that people did downgrade themselves during 3.3 to avoid the MSQ trials in the roulette makes me worry about what could happen for the leveling roulette.
I am however in favor of an adaptive minimum item level for these roulettes based on the highest unlock duty and the job level. I just do not know if it is easy for SE to implement that. For instance,
- if someone is lv. 51 and has unlocked Dusk Vigil, the game could require that their ilvl is at least i100 or i110 (drops are i120);
- if someone is lv. 69 and has only unlocked up to Dusk Vigil, the game would only require that their ilvl is again i100 or i110;
- if someone is lv. 69 and has unlocked everything up to Castrum Abania, the game would require that their ilvl is i268 or i278 (drops are i288).
Yes, and no. If you are a tank, your gear should also be up to par because of the defense attribute (and vitality). Healers and DPS, yeah you can kind of get away with only your weapon being on level, and the rest 5~7 levels below the dungeon’s level, but for tanks it’s equally as important that your left side (at the least) be relatively close to your current level, and your weapon. Weapon is most important for holding hate/damage; gear is most important for surviving/not making your healer absolutely hate you.

It's easy, actually. Have it follow more closely with the Mentor roulette that forces you into the highest ilvl out of the duties available within the roulette. Just be a smidge more forgiving. You're 65 but you don't have the gear to run Bardam's despite having it unlocked? Well then I see there you cleared Shisui so you obviously have the ilvl for THAT, or at least had it at one point, therefore you may not queue with anything less. It means roulettes will need to dynamically determine what ilvl you're supposed to have whereas now they manually update the Mentor roulette whenever they add new duties into it, which is why I think they haven't done it yet.

No, I think the "Recommended Gear" algorithm mainly looks at the primary stat for the class/job in question. Only if that is equal between gear pieces does it go on and consider other stats.
For tanks the primary stat is Vitality, so you will usually get recommended whatever gear item provides the most Vitality among those you can equip.

I have nothing to contribute to the conversation, but this made me damn near choke up fries laughing. That's it. Just thought I'd share.
Please, yes, implement an iLevel restriction.
Also, neither here nor there, but higher-level content (Expert Roulette / current Raid tier on up) should have, in addition to an average iLevel requirement, a minimum iLevel requirement on all pieces that is somewhat lower. I had the awful experience of finding a tank in Hells' Lid using a level 68 weapon, iLevel 285. There's really no excuse for this at all, and said individual should not have been permitted to queue, even if they did meet the average iLevel.
if they have under i290 left ask why, if you see they did not do the 70 job quest, kick them. No excuse to have anything less then 290 left in expert. You have no business being in expert if you have not done your level 70 job quest for the ability. Well.. I gotta admit.. my friend's stories got me more aware about people doing that. She only does the 5 a week expert thing and did 3 kicks in SB due to that. Idr how many I did myself.Please, yes, implement an iLevel restriction.

Expert and level 70 raids should be locked if you did not do the level 70 job quest for the job you are on, no matter what your gear is.
Anyways I agree with the idea there needs to be some kind of gating for leveling for each slot to meet some kind of ilevel. Even with good weapon, having weak left and having right carry the ilevel can mean being oneshot by unavoidable AoE damage. I wonder if this is another change that never happened because the Japanese playerbase doesn't have problems like this.

It is possible to join level 61-69 dungeons with ilvl 0. As long as I can join no matter if I have gear or not, it seems legit, right?
