She only does the 5 a week expert thing and did 3 kicks in SB due to that. Idr how many I did myself.

Expert and level 70 raids should be locked if you did not do the level 70 job quest for the job you are on, no matter what your gear is.

Anyways I agree with the idea there needs to be some kind of gating for leveling for each slot to meet some kind of ilevel. Even with good weapon, having weak left and having right carry the ilevel can mean being oneshot by unavoidable AoE damage. I wonder if this is another change that never happened because the Japanese playerbase doesn't have problems like this.
More specifically it's another change that won't happen because it's not posted in a specific language. Every DC has just as many problems as any other. People are alike all over.

Back to the point at hand though, I generally agree. I mean ilvl, yes. Abilities, not so much. First, there's stuff like Plenary Indulgence, Aetherpact, Passage of Arms? Not really critical in most content, especially not 4man. Second, people could just be bad. Your AST might not have Sleeve Draw and that's not nice, but what difference does it make between an AST that *does* have Sleeve Draw, but just doesn't use it? Whereas better gear will make a bad player more useful, regardless of how they actually play. Brotherhood is a very good skill, but if your MNK doesn't use it, it doesn't matter if it gives 5% or 1000%.

IIRC It was either Rift or Guild Wars 2 that required you to have a certain main stat before you could go into certain dungeons.

    That could work in FFXIV.

Tanks can't enter Vault without XXX in Vitality.

I can't tell you the number of times I've seen players with ridiculously low ilvl gears in dungeons. I'm talking lvl 15 accessories in lvl 50 and 60 content.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

i'm well aware, however, if someone does not even do their 70 level quest before entering expert, how well do you think that player will perform rushing like that? Do you know how obvious noticeable level it is if you have any sense of time? (I/E this is taking too long , why?)It goes dead slow, you do not need a praser to know something is wrong with that kind of pace.

    I agree.

It has to be something high enough to keep away those people leveling their new jobs but not bothering to gear them (the ilvl thing is almost NEVER a new player issue. It's usually an existing player on a job they're leveling)

While also being low enough that it doesn't alienate new people going through MSQ for the first time.

Something reasonable, like what the OP said.
