people dont know what they want
Well, people complain that it wasn't PERFECT and it might have brought new, unintended consequences (hrm, wonder what that reminds me of...) but people still would feel that it fixed more problems than added. Taking it away just simply is a net negative then and so THEN they complain because they got a net negative (when maybe it needed to be taken away because the new problems made where; hsdjaihgo;weagn iwpu gh....).

It just doesn't end, for devs and players, that's part of the allure of MMOs. The problem is that when you make a bad design choice you don't blame the players for UNANIMOUSLY considering it crap and seeking to circumvent an obvious and clumsy time-sink. What you do is you make changes to address those grievances. In this case, you make a mini-game that people actually desire to play.

Banning players for turbo-controller use will not fix anything, fixing the way we craft will.

what the hell do you think "automation software" means

technicaly, thats exactly what your turbo control becomes if you leave it on while you are afk

Again with the belief I'm the one lacking in understanding? w
I said there was no point arguing further, and I said it for good reason.

All of this doesn't change the fact I mentioned earlier, IT IS still possible to craft with your window minimised MANUALLY by pressing a button every 5-10 seconds, as long as that is possible you can't scream out botter when they could be doing it legally.

No where in the ToS does it say that playing the game minimised with a controll pad (repeatidly hitting a button MANUALLY) is illegal, as it is NOT automation your doing it yourself.

Prohibited Activities in Final Fantasy XIV

    Activities that destroy game balance
Using third party programs or tools in FINAL FANTASY XIV is strictly prohibited since they allow users to gain an unfair advantage over other players. The use of programs or tools within FINAL FANTASY XIV that allow certain continuous actions to be performed automatically are often referred to as absentee play, which is also prohibited in FINAL FANTASY XIV. Additionally, during the course of an absentee play investigation, players may be requested to respond to or comply with a GMs instruction. Failure to do so is consider a violation and may result in disciplinary action being taken against the account.

imho, if you fail to do this, you will consider BOT no matter you are manual press or auto-press. Tool can be refer to many things. A normal keyboard, normal mouse, normal gamepad and even WINDOW$, these tools wont happen "allow users to gain an unfair advantage over other players."

All they would have to do it prevent turbo controllers being an issue is make it so you dont just have to hit a single butting repeatedly, throw and UP in there or Down and problem solved (for turbo controllers anyway)

You would think that... but the thing is... for a LONG TIME... you did need to press down to start the next synth and in 1.19 SE changed it so you didn't....
It was a very small change (The cursor defaults to "Recipes" as opposed to Requested Items") with very big ramifications...
Which begs the question... did SE see this coming?

Right now though you can't blame players for using a controller and hitting a button while watching TV etc. because SE allow it and designed it that way, untill they change it I can't see it right in blaming the player for taking a easier option they put into the game

the problem isnt people watching tv etc etc while doing this though

the problem is people who are literaly afk while having the control doing so

i watch tv while hitting enter, and i can easily pay attention to the screen at the same time(tells tend to stand out of course)

and in the end, yes, you can blame the players, if a player cheats, its his fault, its not the games fault, its not the controlers fault, its not the program hes using fault
he made a concious choice to cheat, its his fault

I'm not talking about botting or Turbo controll uses, they are in the wrong for botting, I'm talking about people who play with a controller MANUALLY pressing the button them selves while not looking at the screen, SE designed it so thats possible so they arn't in the wrong.

No where in the ToS does it state: You must be looking at your FFXIV window while controlling your in-game character, therefor innocent people are being bashed.
