I dunno, people's opinions of SE in general aren't exactly that high. But yes, people here are grouchiest.

Also ppl are really ranting about this and their vision is distorted, SE did many controversial things but they also relent some times even before actuating this, which in my opinion is due to sheer stupidity not exactly malice, while EA on the other hand has shown plenty of malice

Except that EA also relents. SE and EA are no different at all in that regard except you're a fan of one and the other is the Internet's favorite whipping boy.

Companies usually relent when the PR cost of the thing exceeds the revenue from it.

I dont defend EA or try to minimize. Also i play and like WoW as i like FFXIV, but the cash shop in sub MMORPG, WoW opened this pandora's box. and even if FFXIV is already far more bigger than WoW's one, it is blizzard that opened the pandora box.

But NO, EA didnt born and in the next second became the demon they are. they began slowly. trying this and this... Pushing more and more the limit.

Three years and half years ago, when cash shop born in FFXIV, we were far from what we have now. And thinking about the app was silly... it wouldnt happens we would have said in this time... Let's see now.
Let's see what can go now?

I loved FFXIV in the begining
I loved all it could have become, and i always have many hope for the game.

But more the month are running, more we get thing in cash shop... now we are nearly in a monthly update.
Veteran system disappeared, why? 4 reward a year, so high cost for people that did pay 3 more month sub? no better getting a 7 euros emote or a 12 euros outfit
The housing, a matter from the 2.38, 1 years later we had 4 more housing area, up to 12 so... and then nothing for 2 years. When 4.1 out, all the shit made the forum burn... What did we have as answer "oh... we are sorry, we hoped to satisfy most" ... EVERYONE knew 12 more area wouldnt be enough... just a "sorry we failed?" 3 years of shit with this and finally they did the idea that was so much said... 1 house per account. Why not already in 4.1... And just "sorry"?

in the time, i could watch FFXV... this preorder genious system, all the DLC changing the texts. And finally a 15 euros pack that first day buyers had to buy to get the full game... More money, MOAR

Maybe i am just a raging child thinking they are on a road that EA already took, but it is what i feel. sorry.


I fear what will have to be payed for a full FFVII, i fear what they will do with KH3...
I dont speak about eureka (i think it is a bad content for FFXIV... really) i dont speak about i dislike the brainless fanservice of omega bosses (you like kefka? ok here is Kefka as boss, no reason, just enjoy) it is a FFXIV specific matter, and by itself, not enough to make me quit. I speak about all those cashgrab they do.

Before : i was in the mean to see what will game be for SB, what it seems 5.0 will be (some real change? always the same boring recipe?) Now i am not even sure i would continue...
Fun fact i have 2 account, each getting a house. and when i read my sign, i laugh even more now... "thing of the past" "to make people continue paying their sub"...

I keep hearing all this doom and gloom about Eureka and pay to win features. Is there any merit to this? Has anyone actually quit, or is this standard behavior everytime FFXIV releases a patch?

It's standard behaviour of late, and people have actually quit, though it's hard to say for sure why.

Generally, FFXIV loses people throughout an expansion cycle. This is because the development team has a very stale content release cycle, so for people who are tired of grinding tomestones in the same few dungeons, raiding the current end-game raid tier, etc., there isn't a whole lot truly 'new' to stick around for. Eureka was painted as a solution to this in some sense, and for many it didn't live up to the promise, hence the complaints surrounding Eureka in particular.

The complaints about pay-to-win features are a bit of an exaggeration, but there are legitimate concerns about monetization efforts. Speaking for myself, I only play because FFXIV is one of relatively few games my SO enjoys playing, too. Whenever that changes, I'll leave and won't look back, not least because of SE's shameless greed and price gouging. It's my view that a subscription-based game shouldn't have these 'features', and the inclusion of these things has a significant impact on my desire and willingness to support FFXIV. Other people hold different opinions and have different degrees of tolerance, but there is merit to the complaints you see floating around.

Comparing it to the hate that EA got last year is lunacy, SE is not well liked but it's not exactly hated on that level because as I said they fall more in the stupidity category not in the malicious one, they are not exactly going around eating companies and then spittingh them out.

Also while yes the loot boxes correlates to the card boxes, the market is following wilson's lootboxes created for soccer games.

As for EA relenting, ye after months of telling how stupid ppl are to complain to their grand scheme, while ppl are using the deus ex preorders as a flagship of greedyness of SE, while it was discarded before beign set in motion.
Might I ask where everyone was when bandai namco kept doing it for their games? Because you see plenty of companies do that, but literally nobody cares and when I see ppl using this argument i really get angry, because only SOME companies or SOME games gets this attention, while otrher things gets passed because you know it's not a Final fantasy or a Deus ex game so why should I care?

I've been complaining about various aspects of the game for a long time now. Housing, cash shop, stale formula, retainers, multiple failures to innovate new content, and now there's this app, which I'm not even going to bother complaining about. You know why? Because enough is enough.

I've reached my limit of tolerating things and am only going to sub occasionally, and only because a friend plays. If they weren't here, I'd not sub again. In the past 12 months I've been subbed for about 2 of those, and I'm currently unsubbed and have no plans to sub any time soon. I'm only here for the 4 free days.

My bf quit over all of this. And I only play a fraction of the time I used to because I don’t have much drive to play without him. So there is at least one.

He was going to resub for 4.3 so we could do MSQ and stuff together, but then the app stuff was announced and that was the end of that. He’s not coming back for 4.3 now.

You know, i didnt want to play FFXV, and didnt intend to buy deus ex in preorder. Why do i speak about these? i speak to clearly show that it is not a FFXIV matter but a SE matter.
