Eureka was a bit disappointing, but whats really getting me is the constant increase in cash shop items (faster than ingame items) and additional subscription services, usually featured around inventory, the games weaker feature. Instead of fixing it,t hey are profiting off of leaving it bad. That doesn't sit well with me.

I generally prefer avoid combating other people's viewpoints on this forum, so I'll just clarify my own.

    1. The increasingly aggressive attempts to monetize FF14 further are disheartening at best, and offensive at worst.
I personally the game is very much worth playing, but I can totally respect someone's decision to cancel their sub and move on to activities that they believe are worth their time and money.

    2. In spite of my previous statements, I must admit I feel the community can exaggerate issues present with FF14.
In particular, I do not feel the Stotmblood expansion is lacking in content; aside from base game difficulty.

    3.The aforementioned base game difficulty.
I really enjoyed the difficulty curve for the MSQ in Heavensward, and it's quite sad for so much of the content in StormBlood to end up so mind-numbingly easy.
I don't care for raids, savage / ultimate instances, or deep dungeons; but I would verily appreciate more challenges in the base game.

It's just the nature of the beast.. It's a "Theme Park" MMO. They want the majority of their players, if not the entirety, to actually be able to beat the base game with difficult content reserved for the optional endgame. I have no strong feelings for or against this, I'm ok with it just as it is but wouldn't mind a more difficult MSQ.. but I'm also a relatively skilled raider, so I acknowledge that I'm not part of the crowd that SE is worried might not make it through the MSQ in a reasonable time.

Like it or not, beating the MSQ isn't supposed to be an achievement to work towards like it would be in a game like Dark Souls, or hell, the single player FFs. If you truly feel that the MSQ is "too easy", then it might be time to start caring for raids, because that's what they're giving those of us who are looking for more of a challenge.

The official forum only represent a very small minority of the actual player base. The only way to see if the game is actually working is to look at the active player-base (or the number of subs I guess).

If the game is fun, people will subscribe and stay subscribed. If it's not fun they will just leave without a word, most of the time. The same can be said about the one calling to boycott one thing or the other. I think it's mostly useless, since only the forum viewers will see it. Then again, if the people are pleased, they will buy, if not they won't.

Now then, that doesn't mean the people are wrong about what they think, mind you. They may have very solid reasons to be worried about the state of the game. And other people are loving the game for solid reasons too. It may be difficult to find here a clear tendency about what the customers are thinking right now about FFXIV.

My personal opinion is that it's feelings that bottled up since Heavensward are just coming back. During this expansion, people claimed their concern about the game being really redundant because of the patch cycle (New tomestones, new raid boss, new dungeons, rinse and repeat) and the fact that Stormblood does not bring much in therm of innovation on that side can give the people who try to stay up to date with their character the feeling that the game doesn't have much to offer anymore to them. Hence the "gloom and doom" you may speak about.

So is people here actually speaking for the majority of the players? Probably not. But it may be interesting to take a look at what they have to say anyway.

Eureka's boring and has glaring design flaws that should have been obvious at the outset (opening tons of lockboxes and converting crystals one by one, no party level sync, etc). It also still has technical issues, like how party members vanish due to the servers being unable to handle that many people. But hey, we're getting a sub phone app on top of the sub, so yay priorities?

Yeah, I've lost faith in SE over this. What they're apparently focused on is cash shops and monetizing apps, what I want them focused on is adding fun content and shoring up the technical debt in the game. That's a problem. Also their communication with the NA playerbase is abysmal.

And I truly don’t understand the complaints lol Eureka isn’t that bad and can be fun at times, this app is far from pay to win lol gaining a market board space and retaininers is not even close to the definition of P2W....that is when you pay for leveling, better gear and what not lol u can simply not pay for the app and it will effect little of your game play

I quit multiple times. I have subbed 4 times last year. Once before SB and then 3 since SB released.
Have not played the game anytime this year and my last logged in time was Christmas time.
(I only logged from the Free time event they have going.)
I lost all faith in SE a bit before Stormblood launched. I've come in the game expecting nothing.
Waited x months for Eureka being pushed back and it released this bullcrap like it was rushed out the gate.
No hype nor disappointment because SE has let me down so many times with empty promises and band-aid
fixes then they push the living bajebeers out of Cash shop and now this App?
So for me, I come to play this game every 4-6 months (or whenever they add the new 24 man thing)
Can't be bothered much anymore unless they do something amazing or drastic.

Yeah. That's why question too. When will people actually start quitting as opposed to just talking about it?

And when it happens will it be on a massive scale that suddenly hits Square-Enix hard, or will it be a very-tiny trickle that they ignore, but have years to fix?

Concerning Eureka, internet exploded with negative comments about it and made me seriously worry about it cuz I was coming back after a small hiatus and missed the first days of Eureka's patch. But in the end I actually liked Eureka? Still far from being perfect but with all that I read on internet I was expecting something way worse than Diadem.

As for pay to win, I don't remember seeing anything like that at all. If this is about the mobile app, it's hardly a P2W thing, no one is getting better gear for that.

    *watch deus ex preorders*
*watch all preorders system and DLC for FFXV*
*watch a sub MMO with a F2P cash shop... MMORPG named FFXIV*

I lost all faith in Square Enix... the more i see what they does, the more i feel they go close to EA
